Do the Jazz have it in them to tank the 2013-4 season and go for Wiggins?

How about this:
Let's say the Jazz do just that. They go through 2013 and stink it up. The young guys play a lot, gain a ton of experience, and we get the #1 pick. Would you trade that #1 pick straight up for Harden? That would make the Jazz look like this:
PG from FA (you could spend up to 15 million)
Hayward
Harden
Favors
Kanter

They have it in them to do all those things you said, except that they will over achieve, like they did the year John and Karl left, and this team is more talented then that team of role players.

Jazz will be too good for a top 3 pick. Our core four alone should make us a .500 team or so. Not to mention all the other teams that will be tanking hard as well for the very same reason. Next year could be interesting. Those in playoff hunt will be fighting hard. The rest will be trying to loose as much as possible. Could get ugly.
Also, I'm not so sure Wiggins goes #1 overall. Parker could be that guy. Will be fun year of college ball to watch these two.

There is no way that the jazz franchise will tank on purpose. They have never done it; the only times we have are when a key player gets injured for the rest of the season. In all seriousness though our core should be good enough to be a quality competitive team. Hayward is in his 4th year. Next season is definitely going to be interesting all I want is the core 4 starting. I think we will be surprise by Corbin. He had to deal with being a nba coach, then he had a roster full of free agents that he couldn't just bench. Though I feel like he doesn't have the grit to handle an Allstar player right now.
Julius Randle also looks like a franchise-changing prospect and might have just as much impact in the league as Wiggins. I'm not sure this next draft is really all about Wiggins, as there are 5 or so prospects that could help get the Jazz to a championship-contender status.
TBH, it's really rare for a small forward, no matter how talented, to lead a team to a championship, simply based on how the SF plays out on the floor. Whereas, a game-changing PF or C can instantly make a team a contender. If you don't believe it, watch the OKC-Memphis series. Durant has been great, but Zach Randolph has been the difference maker. Other elite SFs like Grant Hill, Scottie Pippen, Kevin Durant, Dominique Wilkins, Alex English, etc. have never been able to lead a team all the way.

I agree with this. The Jazz might not be considerably worse next year than they were this year. Keep in mind, this year we were over .500 and most of our starting players didn't really play defense, rebound or run the floor. Also, most nights the PG position was a total loss.

In a word, no. If they do, it won't matter, I would no longer be a fan. I like to watch undertalented plucky players do the best they can with limited potential, I don't want to be the guy with a whole bunch of ringers on my team, and that's basically what we'd be doing. Now if we find the diamond in the rough who we draft with a pick we 'earned' and he becomes a real player, great, that's a great story.

Anyways, back to the original point - I would love to see the Jazz tank and get a Top 3 pick. Develop the young guys and add a future superstar to the mix? Then, we can fire Ty and get a real coach? I'm pretty sure that 99.99% of JazzFanz would rather have the worst record in the league next year than make the playoffs.
I think the year the Jazz finished with the 4th worst record in the league and ended up drafting Deron Williams (by trading with Portland) was basically a tank job. We since parlayed that one lottery pick into Kanter, Favors, Marvin and this year's #21 pick. That's half a rebuild right there.

Except for head coach. Don't worry, the Jazz will sign 4-5 guys to vet minimum contracts to fill out the roster and Corbin will give each of those players 25 mins/per.
