What's new

Do the Jazz have it in them to tank the 2013-4 season and go for Wiggins?

Dude the raptors a with gay and the second year of Jonas... I imagine they will be in the playoff hunt in the east...

As for

The Sixers they have a few ways they could go that's shy I put them in toss up...

The Cavs could be decent, especially if they go after a decent free agent!!

Detroit- I honestly don't know with them

Add Dallas, Portland and Minnesota to that list. They have a lot to prove. The Lakers are also still a hot mess. Nash will be 40 and Kobe's out.

Besides, you realize that by getting rid of our vets from last year the team actually gets better, right?

When we get rid of our vets we have no bench... That will hurt us and I'm pretty sure we will have a worse record next year!!!

Dallas and Portland were both knocking on the playoff door!!

And if Minisota is healthy they have a awesome team!!

I'm not a big Gay guy... so I'm still not sold on the Raptors and being in the hunt in the East could still mean they suck.

There is definitely uncertainty with all of the teams I listed, which is why I could see them all as worse than the Jazz.
I also see the Jazz as ultimately being better than last year, or close to the same when it comes to the record.

Give it Time!!!

With this starting 5, where is our offense:

Tinsley
Hayward
Carroll/Williams
Favors
Kanter

This team has ZERO offense next year.

Now, I think it will be GREAT for Hayward and Kanter to have to struggle through the season, and see how hard it is to win. That doesn't mean I think those three aren't good. I just don't think they have been given ANY responsibility yet, and don't realize how hard it is going to be. While I think the big three will be three ESSENTIAL pieces to a title team, they need a year to grow together. Then toss in a high draft pick and 30 million in cap space...and FINALLY we can contend for a title.

Tinsley is not going to be the starting PG next year, c'mon now. The Jazz have over 30 million in cap space they MUST use.

The Jazz only have to pay 90% of the cap amount but they don't have to spend it on long term contracts.

I just hope we don't sign Big Al, Mo Williams, Watson, Tinsley. I hope Marvin opts out but I don't think that is likely.

I'm with green...

I think our young guys are fantastic!!!

But we have no bench and our young guys have not had the responsibility of caring the team yet!!

Hayward and kanter would have some offense, but even they would struggle because they would have their guy plus a point guard and a small forward leaving tinsley and Marvin on every possession. If Carroll plays, at least he is not horrendous offensively, and favors would get all the put backs. Man, that team would be just terrible. With a decent point guard though, they could get to the point of ok next year.

With the Core 4, Marvin, Evans, Carroll, Tomic and 3 rookies from the draft, that would put us as 11 players. Now add a couple of players that we take from teams (for future picks) who need cap relief. I think that's a team 'competing' for one of the worst records. Losing would be because of lack of experience on the bench.

If instead they pick up a good point guard (Teague, Bledsoe, Jack) and a couple of experienced roll players for the bench, I think we're back to competing for the playoffs.

As a season ticket holder, I think I could withstand a season of watching the young guys grow. It's certainly better than watching the vets underachieve as they did this year and last.

Brilliant post. Go young Utah!
