National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day

It's National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day!
Half of all cookies sold today in the U.S. are chocolate chip, but the popular cookies were actually invented by accident. The story goes that in 1930, Ruth Graves Wakefield mixed semi-sweet chocolate chunks into a batch of Butter Drop Do sugar cookies that she was baking for guests at the Toll House Inn, in Whitman, Mass., according to Nestle. The chocolate was a welcome addition and the chocolate chip cookie we've come to know and love was born and became a hit.
Whether you're a chocolate chip cookie monster or just have the occasional sweet tooth, these recipes will satisfy your craving for the crunchy or chewy cookie variety.

Can't believe we all missed this one. What's more important: another Buckner post, talking religion, fretting over who the Jazz will take at #14...or sitting down and enjoying a yummy chocolate chip cookie, or two or five?!

My son and I made a huge batch of chocolate chip cookies last week. We got tired of making all the little balls with the cookie dough after four dozen or so, so we made a giant cookie, probably bigger than 12" around. I'll post a pic later if I get around to it.

we also missed National High Five Day, it was April 15.

I love chocolate chip cookies, but somehow they don't taste quite as good as the ones I made as a kid, even though I'm following the same recipe.

Question: Puffy and soft or thin and crisp?

I prefer a thinner, crisper version to the softer, puffier cookie.

Soft. I don't like cookies that crunch.

I'm going to go with another Buckner post.

Definitely more important than a chocolate crap cookie.

Best chocolate chip cookies you've had in SLC (not including homemade)??

Mine has to be Paradise bakery.

I haven't tried either of these, but shelf cookies seem like they'd be worse than fresh bakery cookies, no?

Otis Spunkimiers is just frozen cookie dough, so you bake them fresh and they are super super super good and freaky fresh.
