What's new

Bought NBA Jam for Wii. Wiish I didn't.

My roommate just got it tonight and we played if for over an hour and it brought back good memories of the old school game. If you liked that you will love it, if you didn't or want something super realistic this isn't for you. We had a blast though.

I'll just go on record as saying, I've completely had it with the 360 and the PS3 both.
They've given me nothing but problems, and I might just give up on the crap all together.
As for the Wii, it's worked perfect from day one....
I hacked it, and can play millions of different games from the past for FREE on it.
Not to mention, free internet browsing on your TV.
No stupid X-box live type restrictions on everything, and the motion control is great.

Kudos to Microsoft and Sony for the great graphics, but nobody does innovation like Nintendo.
And in this economy, and myself with not much money myself....
I'm sick of the X-box's pricey harddrives, and PS3's pricey consoles with Blu-ray.

I'm down with the new NBA Jam for the Wii, and for those who aren't, go give a hug to your pricey little HD TV's and consoles for me.

I want something that actually works consistantly, whatever on the HD.

My PS3 has worked fine since day one. I had one broken Xbox 360 which Microsoft repaired and worked fine up until I upgraded to the new smaller and quieter model. Nintendo's idea of innovation is taping two Gamecube's together and adding some gimmicky motion controls that Microsoft and Sony have already bested with their motion controller options.

I have a Wii. I use it every I dunno... 3 months, when something decent actually comes out. Like Super Mario Galaxy 2 for instance.

Glad one of your reasons for liking the Wii is that you're illegally playing games on it. Good job. I'm not sure if you realize this, but that's not exactly a feature of the Wii console, nor is it something that can't just as easily be done on the PS3 or 360.

So enjoy the plethora of shovelware and minigame collections. I'll gladly take the quality games.

I have had my PS3 for almost 3 years with no problems. To bad PlayStation Move just surpassed the wii controls, now wii has nothing. Yes it is absurd that you have to pay to play online with the 360.

So does it have season or playoffs?

I had no idea this was being released as a full priced game. It's arcade fare, worth about 12 bucks.

It's a nice piece of hardware. Very solid.

Except a collection of stellar Nintendo franchises going back twenty years. The day I turn into a soccer mom and want to play virtual frisbee golf with motion controls, is the day I'll care. Until then, I'll take Metroid, Zelda, Mario and a backlog of NES/SNES/64 games. On the Wii. The motion control itself I could care less about; like I said, that's soccer mom ****.

Hardly. There's no such thing as free lunch... and when there is, it sucks. Xbox Live is a premium online experience, far and away more functional and valuable than the joke that is PSN. I for one am happy that it doesn't cost more than it does, because it's worth every penny and then some. I in no way would ever want it free and less functional. And btw, PS3 is going to an optional pay-to-play model in Dec. lest they continue to provide a universally substandard, albeit free, online network.

Only that PS move is going to work with far more advanced games than the wii can offer. I don't see many soccer moms playing a hard core FPS. PSN looks and has worked just fine for me. What is with the points system with XBOX Live? Do they not want to use real money so you don't realize how much money you are actually blowing?

Hey, you do what you can with no money.
I like the 360 just fine, but I'm sick and tired of throwing my time at it, and then having more 3 ring crap.
If microsoft actually knew how to make hardware, maybe they wouldn't have millions of problems.
I've had a lot of fun on 2k online, but I also like 2k on the Wii.

And what to you is a quality game??

I've still never seen a better RPG in my life than Crono Trigger for SNES.

And no basketball game to this day has even touched NBA Live '99 IMO.

Do you really believe these games nowdays are really worth 60 bucks?? No matter how pretty they are.
Not to mention the 360 keeps releasing the same boring first person shooter, based on Doom 95.

And I don't see a hardcore FPS utilizing motion controls. At least not a credible one. As motion control tech stands now, any decent FPS will be reliant on the feedback of tactile controllers. The latency of Move, Kinect, Wii whatever, is absurd and is not designed to work in any substantive way with games that require precision or fast reflexes (i.e. FPS's).

3 bucks a month in exchange for A TON of usability and features? I could give **** all about how little XBL costs me. And I pay for my **** in straight cash homie.

There are a lot of games this generation that are easily worth 60 bucks. Remember back when Chrono Trigger came out it was 70 brand new (I remember, I paid that much for it).

But back to the original question of "do you believe these games nowadays are worth 60 bucks?" Yes, here is a partial list:

Fallout 3
Borderlands
Batman Arkham Asylum
Red Dead Redemption
Rock Band 2 (granted, you need to have guitar controllers or a mic first)
Grand Theft Auto 4
Uncharted 2
Metal Gear Solid 4
Gears of War 2

I could go on a little further, but those are games that I would have felt absolutely no problem what so ever spending 60 on. In fact, a few of those I did buy on day 1 (GTA 4 and Rock Band 2) and have easily got back "game play to time to money ratio" out of them.

Sports games? outside of NBA Jam, I don't know if I would spend more than 40 on a sports title. I don't really have a lot of time to devote to gaming as it is, let alone a time based purchase.

Couldn't have possibly said it better myself. The Wii at my place gets turned on maybe once a month, for an hour or two of Super Smash Bros, usually when company is over.
