Could Trey Burke slide on draft day?

So in the article about Orlando wanting Bledsoe it mentions that the Magic could pass on Burke because they think hes not worth the 2nd pick. So if Orlando passes how far could he slide? What other team would need/select a PG in the lottery? Here is a breakdown of the lottery teams after Orlando picks.

3.Washington-John Wall
4.Charlotte-Kemba Walker
5.Phoenix-Gordon Dragic
6.New Orleans-possible here but Vasquez is pretty damn good
7.Kings-Isaiah Thomas and Jimmer
8.Detroit-Brandon Knight
9.Minnesota-Ricky Rubio
10.Portland-Damian Lillard
11.Philadelphia-Jrue Holiday
12.Oklahoma City-Russell Westbrook
13.Dallas-He probably deosn't slide past Dallas to us

So my guess is if Orlando passes on Burke then his next possible place is New Orleans. But if he slips past them he is now in the 7-11 range the Jazz might be able to use the #21 pick and trade up to get him.

Burke is another Kemba Walker - he'll slide a little bit once he goes through work outs and teams realize he's not a Top 5 talent; but he's not going to be available at 14 either.

Yea I already said he wouldn't be there at 14.

But it gives us the possibility of moving up a few spots to get him.

He won't go past Sacramento. Thomas isn't a long term answer at pg and the Jimmer isn't a NBA player. Heck, there is a good chance Jimmer gets cut this summer.

Jimmer getting cut would really, really suprise me. He showed some good offensive efficiency last season. He is shooter but he shot 41.7% on 156 attempts. Someone needs a shooter.

Detroit just used a lottery pick on Brandon Knight. I really doubt they go in that direction.

Sacramento I could see but they have many other needs besides PG. Thomas was one of there only positives last season.

Detriot played Knight at the 2 a lot last season. I think they see him as a combo guard.

If he slips past #2, he will likely go 4-6, but I don't see him going past Sacramento at 7. He would be great for that team.

Take out 'cut'

insert 'traded'

and we agree. New owners, new GM, new Coach, fans have new enthusiasm. Cut some ties with some of the past regimes mistakes, get some future assets in return. Right now Jimmer may still have some value because performance can maybe be excussed by coaching & organization dysfunction. But, if the new owners, GM, And Coach come in and Jimmer does about the same.....then his trade value is nothing more than a roster spot and salary hold.

Trey Burke will not slide past Detroit, anything is possible before that in this crazy draft where nobody really stands out, and the talent breaks are difficult to define.

Maybe the Kings will take the #21 for Jimmer?

You're cute to think this draft is that good.
Not a reflection on the draft. It's a reflection of how I feel about Jimmer. Fredette is a fringe NBA player. He can find a niche as a 3-pt specialist and 3rd-string PG. Bring him to Utah and there would be tremendous pressure for him to be a starting PG, the savior of the team. Not only pressure on him, personally, but on the coaching staff to play and then start him. Jimmer in Utah would be bigger than Tebow in the South.

AS for the OP, I don't see Burke slipping past Detroit or Sacramento. Knight is not a great PG. Thomas is good, but not great. Even NO might want to see if they can upgrade and then trade Vasquez. Besides, teams can have two good PG's, especially if one can slide to SG to open up minutes for the other. Jazz drafted Maynor to play behind and sometimes with Deron.

i think MCW is higher on the Kings board than Burke, why draft another 6'0 pg with a top pick, when you have Jimmer and Isaiah Thomas on the books?

same with Detroit and Brandon Knight, i use this logic with CJ McCollum too, but he might fit Sac, not DET so much

He can shoot. There's worse backup PG's out there and Jimmer knows by now he's not a starting PG. I think it'd be a good fit.

I could name a fair number of players we could draft at #21 who would be preferable to Jimmer.

Mitchell, Giannis, Bullock, Karasev, Caldwell-Pope, Larkin, Crabbe, Hardaway Jr., Wolters, Withey, Muscala, Southerland, ...

But it would be a Tebow-like distraction. The media would be all over Jimmer's jock. And every time our starting PGOTF had a bad outing, there would be countless articles suggesting the Jazz coach should give Jimmer a start. ALL that Jimmer can do is shoot. I can't believe some of the same people who have been yelling for Al to leave could possibly want Jimmer in a Jazz uni. What good is a player who, granted, can make 40% of his 3's, but gives up easy drives at the other end? Jazz have had this problem with Boozer and Jefferson and they were DOMINANT offensive players. Jimmer is a situational player who isn't even a very good PG.

you are naive to think otherwise
