First Round Bust Predictions

Man, I'm looking at the 2006 draft, and there's definitely some comparisons to make. Let's go through the list.

Bargnani-Bust in relation to draft position.
Aldridge-Not a bust
Morrison-Complete bust
Tyrus Thomas-Bust
Shelden Williams-Complete bust
Roy-Not a bust
Foye-Close, but I'll say slight bust in relation to draft position (#7)
Gay-Not a bust
O'Bryant-Complete bust
Sene-Complete bust
Redick-Not a bust
Armstrong-Complete bust
Sefolosha-Probably not a bust considering pick #13
Brewer-Flameout after a few good years (system guy)
Simmons-Complete bust
Carney-Complete bust
Shawne Williams-Complete bust
Pecherov-Complete Bust
Douby-Complete Bust
Balkman-Bust
Rondo-Bust (just seeing if PKM is paying attention)
Marcus Williams-Bust
Boone-Complete bust
Lowry-Not a bust
Brown-Not a bust due to draft position (25)
Farmar-Not a bust due to draft position (26)
Rodriguez-Bust as an international

Only other notables are Novak, Daniel Gibson, and Millsap.

Is Len Shelden Williams?

Is McCollum Randy Foye?

Is Bennett Tyrus Thomas?

I think a few teams should start adopting a draft pick trade strategy by getting soon expirimg assets and tight-long protected picks back in return that have a long chance at huge payback.

I don't see how McCollum busts. He's a great shooter, adequate athlete and is extremely heady and bright. Again, people overlook the mental aspect of the game. This is one of the reasons why Hayward has been on a decent development curve. Hayward is getting the most out of his physical abilities because he's smart and dedicated. I can't see how McCollum doesn't do the same.

I don't see how Noel busts either. He needs to get healthy, get stronger and develop. He's got wicked talent, with his speed, quickness and timing. He needs lower body strength and core strength so he can keep his balance better and dig in on offense. I do think there's a good chance he becomes better than Favors. He needs about 2 years to do it. I think Cleveland would pick him, but they're in a hurry to make the playoffs.

I still like Archie Goodwin more than a lot of players in this draft. People are looking at what he can't do yet, but there aren't many players with his size, reach, handle and ability to take people off the dribble. He can get where he wants on the court. It's just up to him to do something good when he gets there. He's a flat out steal where he's being projected.

An example would be trying to trade for Avery and bass for the #21 & two badly needed TPEs.

I do like Schroeder and think he can be as good as Burke, but he's a couple years behind in development.

Agreed. He's having to make up for a lot of his deficiencies right now in terms of skills and maturity, via his athletic ability.

As an example, when he's pressured in the back court, whereas Burke would just dribble around the defender, Schroeder would just beat the defender with sheer speed/acceleration.

Imagine if Schroeder one day catches up to Burke's skill level & maturity... he could be scary good. It's still a big question as to whether he can make that leap though.

Yeah watching PKM get pwned always make me laugh as well... LOL

That's like the third time in as many days you've claimed to 'own' me. I wish I found it at least somewhat pleasing that I am part of this little fantasy of yours.. but you're too weird for me to take it as any sort of compliment.

Your chances of landing an elite player via trade or free agency are no where near as good as landing one with a draft pick. So its really ignorant to not value draft picks highly. Especially being in Utah.

Believe it or not, but you have to have elite talent to win a championship.

I'm talking about trading picks like we have this year, which are such a long shot at superstar that.... oh nvm, go **** yourself.

For some reason, that exchange made me laugh.

Plumlee and likely MCW.

Larkin won't be a bust. That guy has sixth man of the year written all over him and I don't want to be high on him.
