2013-2014 Goals

#1 Secure a top five draft pick in 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#2 Play the young guys big minutes!

#3 Wait until 2014 to spend money in free agency.

Last year's team and anything we could do this year, was and is not good enough to compete for a championship. The only way the Jazz will put themselves in position for that goal is to be able to pick up a future all-star in next year's draft.

I am completely fine with short term pain for long term gain and I hope the front office agrees.

1- find out which of your 7 young players can play and are worth paying.
2- Find out if Ty can coach. (start the jokes....NOW!)
3- Generate some kind of excitment or otherwise breath life into a struggling fanbase & franchise.

I'm on board with all three goals, except #3 needs to be amended to include this season's trade deadline. That will be the prime period for teams to come begging to Utah to save them from their stupid overspending. We'll have opportunities to get a very good veteran, a young prospect or a good draft pick.

#1. Extend Hayward and Favors. Taking a chance with Derrick, but it's worth the risk. Get these players signed and reward them with big signing bonuses if they sign for a bit less. Up front money is always more desirable to young guys.

I would be good with this as well, as long as it doesn't mess up the draft pick.

We should sign impact players and front load the first year or two of their deals. This way, we'll have more cap space in year 3 and 4 of their deals

1. Give the reigns to the youth

2. Give the reigns to the youth

3. Give the reigns to the youth

If they do that I am happy and anything that happens, happens.

Certainly if the Jazz were on target for a top-5 pick, I'd rather see them hold steady, or do what GS did and pick up an injured player along with other assets/draft picks. I don't think that will be the case, though. I see them in the 8-11 range. Picking up a rotation player at the deadline probably wouldn't change their position all that much - maximum of 2-3 spots? And that won't make much of a difference in the draft (unless we're talking about top-5).

When did so many Charlotte fans switch over to be Jazz fans? WOHOO; we gonna LOSE!!!! a LOT!!!!!

I am actually considering whether or not to extend my Dish contract. I am thinking about taking a year off as a Jazz fan. Will I? Probably not, especially with how the draft went, but I will be rooting for the team to win every game.

If Burke loses the majority of games next year; he will have a stroke. Seriously, he is a winner, losing might just drive him away.

Just like it drove Durant away from OKC. No professional likes to lose. Year 1 is a learning experience for Trey and he'll have a great shot at ROY. Jazz add a high draft pick and go out and get a couple of veterans in 2014 and we'll have a turn-around like GS did.
