What's new

Schroeder!

All in all Schroeder went 2-8 (both makes were threes). 6 pts. 7 assists, 2 rebounds, and 1 steal. 2 TO and 5 PF's.

Really liked his pace and how he set his teammates up. Shooting wasn't great, but it wasn't completely horrid either --he didn't force anything. Good first game for him. He kept getting beat on defense and would foul though, hope that changes for him.

Bullock was a beast though:
18 PTS on 8-15, 3 blocks, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Me likey!

Burke is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better.

I only got to see a few minutes. Schroeder looked pretty comfortable. His long arms help him on defense, and he had a couple deflections. He made a couple nice passes I saw, but the Hawks weren't running anything too complicated.

Lucas Noguiera looked okay too. He's the long energy guy people thought he'd be.

The guy I want to see is McCollum.

oh ... you never know these days. Some people are irrationally bashing him, while others are sticking their heads in the sand.

I really liked his game. I'm obv a homer, but I think his ballhandling was the best of all rooks seen so far. He didn't make mistakes except having a misunderstanding. He kept his dribble live or found the better positioned player when he realized he had no chance to complete his drive. I think he had bad luck on 1 or 2 of his shots, but that happens. He found his teammates in good spots and operated well in the PnR.
Things he has to adapt are the NBA travelling. He's not making enough use of his first step but that takes time when you're used to FIBA rules. That applies also defensively. I thought he guarded his opponents too close once in halfcourt which opened driving lanes. In FIBA this worked, but again the travelling rules allow a quicker first step. Until he adds more strength, which would enable him to regain position once he recovered on a drive, he must leave more space to deny that option and simply close off when threes are attempted.
Overall he ran the PnR good on defense, but in some cases he looked particularly bad when he got stuck in screens and had no chance to recover, but PnR defense is always a job for two people, so help could denied these situations.

So you're saying that Euroball is better for prospects then college ball?

If you're in the right situation(e.g. a coach willing to give you playing time right from the start combined with good individual trainer) and you're the fitting personality(quick learner, hard worker) then I think Euroball is better as it pushes you with the higher competition. But in many cases you will be stuck in practice as the team has goals to reach and coach doesn't want to jeopardize his job just to accelerate a young player's development . There is no tanking in European leagues.

Bullock was a guy I wanted the Jazz to draft. I don't know how he gets minutes on the Clippers. WHy would he not make the team? Of course if the Clippers don't want him I hope the Jazz get him.

We'll get Jabari next year, so I do think Bullock will be redundant ...

Why wouldn't they want him? Wasn't he a first round pick?

Which reminds me why did Jamal Franklin fall so hard?
