Game of Thrones. I burned through the first three books, but I'm stalling out on book four.

Didn't you find the tv series disappointing once you knew the book? When I wanted to find sth out during the last season and accidentally stumbled over a spoiler collection, it probably ruined half the episodes for me.
Only book I ever read and wasn't disappointed by the picture is The girl with the dragon tattoo.

Since almost every time books are better than movies (exception being Lord of the Rings, as those books are annoying to read and the shows were awesome). I'd rather read the book 1st. But in this case knowing the story line has not ruined the show for me. Now in the case of Stephen King Books made into movies....The Movies always leave you saying WTF that was a good book just destroyed by that horrible movie.

I love stephen king so I figured I would like dean koonz.
I read a book of his called Tick Tock and it was one of the worst ever and turned me off to his books.
Maybe I will have to give him a second chance

Koontz is amazing. But he does have a few stinkers. I've ready ten or so of his books. My favorites are Strangers, Watchers, Mr Murder, Fear Nothing, Seize the Night and The Taking.

Last book I read was "Hell House" by Richard Matheson. Gave me ****ing nightmares. Seriously. He is my favorite author. "I Am Legend" is my all time favorite and his short stories are killer. Stephen King states that no other author inspired him as much as Matheson. If you like King, you owe it to yourself to read Matheson. In general the books are quite short too. Easy reading that'll scare the **** out of you.

Sword of Truth series is EPIC.

I got it on my list but I have some books I need to read and only one book from the series has been translated to Turkish.

I think Legend of the seekers TV Show has been based on the books but I didn't hear that it was good.

Exceptions.... green mile, shawshank, stand by me

All King btw.

So if anyone prefers reading the book before watching the movie, then you better get started on this:

My all-time favorite book.

There are plenty of other exceptions. Silence of the Lambs is a great movie, but the book barely makes the "beach literature" list. Jurassic Park is a generally **** book, but the movie is well-liked (but not by me). And did you know that Die Hard was based on a book?

The show was crap. Absolute dog crap.

For me it is totally different. I really enjoyed the first LOTR movie, but I think the other 2 are crap. Plus reading the books they left much to be desired. Too many shortcuts...
The Game of Thrones problem was I knew about the wedding once I visited a wiki page as I wanted to refresh my memory about Catelyn Stark after the 1st episode. Yeah it was pretty much over then...I've made the experience in general to rather first watch the movie, as vice versa it has been more disappointing.
I know Stephen King is popular, and I've tried once a book in the past but found his capability of imagination combined with humanity and logics disappointing. Never touched sth from him again.
