Iman Shumpert?

apparently dolan wanted to trade him before this latest stunt at summer league

I guess the only question is if Metta expires before Shumpert, one of the few Knicks who has value. Dolan is reportedly upset that Shumpert wasn’t interested in working with the summer league team and wants to trade him. Shumpert, I’ve heard, isn’t too crazy about the moves the Knicks have made, which could further stunt his development.

Iman Shumpert defended 4 positions last year(mostly sg/sf), and has extremely high potential to be a premier 1v1 defender in the league, his jumper needs work but his value is in transition and on defense.

id trade burks for him straight up, as he gladly defends SF's that are taller than him i believe hes a better fit with Gordon.

one thing he brings in spades is tenacity

is anyone interested in trading future draft picks or Burks for him?

he gets tons of steals off of the dribble, u cannot do a sloppy crossover infront of shump

Not sure what we could trade him for, but Shump is a bawse.

His three-point shot showed serious improvement, but I don't think we can afford to sign a wing averaging <40% from the field when we are already strapped offensively. He's more of a 'missing-piece of a championship team' as opposed to a player we try to rebuild with. Iman would be a good target in a few years-- not now.

check out the steal at 0:50, i really like his defensive anticipation

there was a game as a rookie where he stole D. Rose's dribble 2x in the last 2 minutes of a game

Man, the Knicks really ran out some goofy line-ups last season.

do you longtime jazzfans think that the Jazz FO would avoid this type of player because of attitude ?

also with the injury to JR Smith, id imagine the Knicks would demand a SG in return.

See revised post. I think they'd pick him up if we already had an assembled team that was in serious playoff contention. Not for rebuilding though

Burks is way too inconsistent and I think easily replacable. Shumpert could be that 6th man that you can bring in str8 if an opposite guards is hot from the tipoff...With his ACL injury his value is at an all time low right now. If you get him, he's your 3D player. Burks needs way too many touches that he'll never get in Utah long term with Kanter, Hayward, next year's lottery draft and eventually Burke or his replacement. But this year there's a chance that you can increase Burks' value with a lot of playing time and touches. At the same time Shumpert might regain his shape prior to his ACL injury. So it's a thing of risk vs reward. Not sure though if the Knicks would be content with "only" Burks at this point.

teams are going to be overly physical with Burke, Shumpert is the type of guy who I'd want in the backcourt with him during those situations.

If we trade Burks, I would not be surprised if he started putting up crazy numbers. You all need to give him a chance, because he hasn't had any these last two years.

Uggg!!!

Y'all don't understand burks is our Man!!!!

i just dont know how else the jazz could trade for shumpert when you consider JR Smith just had surgery and is out for 3-4 months.

also this would reunite college teammates Derrick Favors and Iman Shumpert

shumpert is a career 40% fg shooter, Burks is 42%.

Burks plays in garbage time, Shumpert plays defense on the best offensive player...

i understand Burks has plenty of room for improvement, but so does shumpert, he came back from an ACL tear last season and shot 40% from three(on 2.8 attempts per), as a rookie he shot 30%

i think also the knicks log jam in the front court is kaiboshing Shumps rebound #s, and they probably dont want him to drive as much as hed like, to try and relieve some of the spatial issues of Melo/Stoudemire/Chandler

Pretty much this. Shumpert could play a role on a championship team, but his talents would be wasted on a non-playoff team.

I would rather just try and develop our currents guys into complete players than go out and get a defensive specialist.

also i think its noteworthy to mention Shumpert and D. Rose tore the same ACL (left) on the same day(back when lebron had 0 championships)

Shumperts rehab was being compared to Adrian Petersons by the knicks announcers, i think its safe to assume that Iman is one of those athletes whos a quick healer, may have attitude issues, and the jazz may redflag him just because he could be a menace in the locker room

in a 6th man/ lockdown defender role here in utah, im quite certain shumpert would thrive, also i think shumpert would fit in really well with the jazz homecourt advantage, he plays to the crowd sometimes.

also hes the type of player who really anchors down when the other teams on a run. to me he fits perfect on the jazz

id trade burks and a plethora of 2nd rounders

Gordon is a finesse player, as is Burke, as is Burks... this is my issue

the toughness of Shumpert would benefit Burke the most, imo

the defensive ramifications would reverberate team wide, im certain of this, shumpert is a galvanizing force.

if we are truely trying to position ourselves for the 2014 draft, we should not trade for shumpert though, i do think hed affect our win % (slightly)
