Wouldn't it be cheaper to get him now? We're building a good defensive team, he would fit right in. Players like Shumpert are hard to find, we're better off getting him now then finding a guy like him later. Not sure what we could trade him for, but Shump is a bawse.
His three-point shot showed serious improvement, but I don't think we can afford to sign a wing averaging <40% from the field when we are already strapped offensively. He's more of a 'missing-piece of a championship team' as opposed to a player we try to rebuild with. Iman would be a good target in a few years-- not now.
I think he saw good minutes in the second half of last season, was a major contributor on the second unit, which is why Carroll's time dwindled. He didn't strike me as a killer on offense in that time, and other then pg skills, I don't see what he brings that Shumpert doesn't. To me, Shumpert fits us like a glove. If we trade Burks, I would not be surprised if he started putting up crazy numbers. You all need to give him a chance, because he hasn't had any these last two years.
shumpert is a career 40% fg shooter, Burks is 42%.
Burks plays in garbage time, Shumpert plays defense on the best offensive player...
this.
