Utah Basketball Snags Big In-State Recruit

Relax guy. Relax. Sit back and enjoy this sitcom. Sheesh. People take this rivalry thing too seriously and can't take a few fun jabs without getting their panties in a twist.

BYU would kick you out for implying anyone twisted any panties in any way shape or form.

So, 6'8", unathletic, moderately skilled, skinny power forward? Wow he has superstar written all over him! Probably be at least as good as, who was that one skinny short unathletic power forward all-star again? I forget.

Kosta koufos? At least after he was drafted by the Jazz.

Awesome take on a 17 year old kid based off of film in which he could have been as young as 15-16. His body will DEFINATELY look the same at 20, right? There's no possible way he's going to grow into that 6'8" frame, especially once he enters a college program.

It's totally fine to not like somebody's game, but **** like this is just lame *** hate.

I actually think the kid is moderately athletic- not great, but I think he handles the ball extremely well for a kid his size. He's also going to have a very nice 20 foot jump shot by his freshman year and the film shows a young player already more than willing to meet offensive players at the rim and block shots. Apparently Stew Morrill felt the same way as he was recruiting him pretty hard, but what does he know?

Haters aside, this is still a really good get for a program that needed him badly. Flame on.

He looks like he gets a foot off the ground on all his shot blocks. He will probably get more athletic when he really gets in the weight room though. Plus he could grow more vertically.

You think Utah is going to red-shirt him, or are y'all that badly in need of depth?

He looks a lot more athletic in this video though.

What does getting your panties in a bunch have to do with any of this?

If this is a lot more athletic, then he isn't very athletic at all, even for a 17-year-old. He does have some advanced skills for his age and for his apparent competition, but not on par with the top high schoolers in the nation. He has a slow first step, and when he does put in a quicker move he telegraphs it horribly. Only the fact that this was a bunch of less-skilled high school kids made him look as good as it did. He has nice range and reasonably solid mechanics, squares up and nice fluid follow-through, but another thing he will need to work on is his shot release is very low and slow. He will get a lot of shots blocked, and by shorter players, at the collegiate level let alone pros. Definitely has the makings of a solid player, but will need some real work to get there. Will also have to work on his conditioning, but most every player not named LeBron or Kobe is in pretty much the same boat coming out of high school.

LOL @ jealous BYU fan, loggrad.

Even though BYU recruited him hard, and he had BYU in his final three, they didn't want him anyways. LOL
