Top 5 favorite Utah restuarants.

1. (tie) Sushi Yah
2440 Fort Union Boulevard
Salt Lake City, UT 84121

Best AYCE Sushi I found in Salt Lake area, and my family are hardcore sushi eaters. In Reno most Sushi places are AYCE, very fresh due to proximity to the coast (1/2 day by truck). Most places here are $20 for AYCE. If you come to Reno the best places here are Sushi House in Sparks and Ijji Sushi in Sparks and Reno. Actually sadly Salt Lake City doesn't compare to Reno when it comes to Sushi.

1. (tie) Kim Long Vietnamese
1664 N 1000 W
Layton, UT

Some of the very best pho I have ever had. Their fried dishes are great, the americanized food, so to speak. Their orange chicken is awesome. And I could eat their spring rolls until I popped. Literally. Their peanut sauce you could eat with a spoon. And the bun dishes are great too. Never had a bad meal there and the food is very inexpensive.

1. (tie) Rancherito's (FKA Beto's)

Had to edit to add this one. Rancheritos is fanstastic. I could eat there every day, every meal. LOVE their carne asada burrito. Their taco salad is great, and their enchilada plate, although sometimes it can be a little too salty.

2. Manuel's El Burrito (Clearfield)

Best chile verde in Utah, maybe in the west. Same goes for chile colorado. Excellent tamales and chille relleno.

3. Timbermine
4. Taco Taco (Washington Blvd Ogden)
5. Ogden Pizzaria

Great thread. Here's Margo's faves:

1. Tiburon
2. Chimayo
3. Mandarin/Asian Star (tie)
4. Lone Star Taqueria
5. My Thai

I am a sushi fiend. I eat it at least 7 times per week. None very good in STG.
I hate AYCE.. only because I hate any rules.
Will hit yall up for some recs when I head up to SLC.

I only hate AYCE sushi because it has sucked every time I've had it.

I second Takashi in SLC as the best. I haven't had them all, but that's because I'm usually anxious to go back to Takashi if I'm going to go all out on sushi. My wife and I usually bring our own bottle of saki. They are pro enough to handle that smoothly.
