ESPN Under 25 Talent Evaluation

Man, NO has some talent. Crap, ours has potential, but theirs have actually done something. With the right coach that team could shock the NBA.

What?

Evans has lead his team to being one of the worst teams.

Same with Holiday.

Same with Gordon.

Davis has star potential an Rivers could be a good role player, the rest are ******* children.

Next year our under 25 could be Favors, Kanter, Gobert, Hayward, Burks, Burke, Neto and the 2 2014 picks. Pretty damn good.

Agree. If Favors and Kanter prove themselves as solid starters, Burke and Burks contribute and then the Jazz add a top-3 pick, the Jazz may just have the best overall crop of under 25. OKC also falls off the list because Westbrook and Durant both turn 25 this year.

I think you missed Green 's tone.

A legitimate shot at making the playoffs, IMO. But it will be tough. Of the teams that made the playoffs last season, I only see the Lakers sliding out. Denver won 57, but losing Iggy and Coach Karl will be a big blow. GS won 47 games last season and looks better a the starting positions but weaker off the bench. Portland is my pick to replace LA in the playoffs. The Blazers had a terrible bench last year. They've improved significantly. Can NOLA go from 27 wins to 47? That's a big improvement.

Of course, if I had my wish it would be for NOLA and Portland to push GS out of the playoffs.

3. Utah Jazz

Players: Trey Burke (20), Alec Burks (22), Derrick Favors (22), Rudy Gobert (21), Gordon Hayward (23), Enes Kanter (21)

Although they lack a single player ranked in the top 25 under 25, I have the Jazz third on this list for two reasons. First, Favors is quickly laying claim to the mantle of "most underrated player in the league" by virtue of playing for the small-market Jazz. He's a top-shelf athlete with excellent length and an improving post game, and also serves as a team defensive anchor and rim protector. Second, Utah has diversified talent; that is to say, the Jazz have players who bring different things to the table at different positions: Hayward as a shooter, Burks as a combo guard, Burke as a scoring point guard and Kanter as a talented face-up 4. The advantage gained by this is that each player has the room to grow their game into natural areas of team need without cannibalizing their minutes.

Outside of those core players, Gobert is an athletic freak who has the potential to be a game-changing talent on the defensive end. He won't see much time initially, but that's a good thing for a player whose game needs refining.

(It's nice to know that we are 3rd out of 30 in terms of youth talent under 25.) Your welcome by the way.

His knowledge seems pretty basic, Gobert is a defensive game changer due to his length, not athleticism. Kanter as a face up 4 could happen someday, but currently his game has been a post up 5.

My welcome is by the way? What's it doing there? ;)

I like how they're described as a group.. It's a bit different than most evaluations. "Diversified talent." Sounds like a complete team in the making.

Although, I'd say Hayward is more than a shooter. He's going to continue to move towards being one of the better all-around players in the league; not just a shooter.

The only player I worry about is Trey Burke. He has the talent and work ethic. I just worry that he'll try to overcompensate, when he struggles, by shooting too much. At least he's not laid-back like C.J. Miles is, and a volume shooter, at the same time. However, the real danger is that he seems a little bit too obsessed with fame. I hope his team focus doesn't suffer because of it. I hope he can turn it off and on like Karl Malone could. Maybe he'll use anger, like Karl did, to help him get in that super-focused mode I used to love so much. Give Karl a technical foul and/or a bad call and look out! :) Haha

I think the writer was referring to his wingspan but Gobert is pretty athletic considering his size. He can come out and defend wing players and he showed a couple of nice athletic offensive moves during summer league. No he doesn't jump out of the gym and he is still pretty weak physically but he isn't Mark Eaton who lumbered down the court.

The Jazz have 4 top 10 picks and not one of those players is in the top 25? Wow. We blew those opportunities.

on paper we look good, only time will tell.
Lindsey will never say this but he knew that we can only be built through the draft. And this year's team have two tasks, gain confidence and experience, and second i would say, natural TANK for TOP FIVE PICK in 2014.

and I like IT .Every player have great potential and we need one more Super talent like TOP FIVE PICK.
next season will be fun.

Hayward should be in the top 25 already due to his production.

Favors and kanter would be in there if not for jeffy and millsap.

Burks would be league mvp if not for corbin. (Summer league mvp at least)

Seriously I think all 4 will be in there if they do this ranking again next year

So, are our players not good enough to beat out an undersized, effort lacking pf and a C who doesn't run the offense, doesn't run the defense and doesn't...well, run at all?

Or is it the coach we have?

Or did KOC drop the ball in his drafts/trades?

Either way, there has been a major problem in this organization. Lets hope they get it figured out.

Mostly coaches fault with a little understanding that featuring sap and jeffy might fetch good trades.

As for burks playing behind bell, howard, cj, and to a lesser extent tinsley and watson...... well that is just plain coaching stupidity.

I guarantee burks is better than cj miles or washed up bell and howard.... and. He is a better point guard than a washed up watson, and maybe a better SG than foye. (Most likely he is)

idk about all 4, but I think Kanter/Favors/Hayward have a chance. There are still la lot of stars under 25.

Half of the guys in the rankings next year will be 2014 draft picks.

NO is a good looking team but I'd take our situation over theirs. There are some faults with the makeup of their team. Davis is going to have to play a lot of center and is a PF by design. Reke will need to be bumped up to SF to make room for Gordon at SG. They are going to get out rebounded by 20 some nights.
