Hotttnickkk's write-up:

Shaquille O'Neal: The most dominating big man to have EVER played the game of basketball. He is a x4 time NBA Champion, including x3 Finals MVP, x15 time NBA All Stars. Yeah Bill Russel was great in the days - but I don't think he has ever faced anyone quite like Shaq. Shaq is going to put him on constant foul trouble trying to guard him. He's big, he's long, and he's STRONG.

shaq_dunks_with_lakers_3.jpg

Dirk Nowitzki: The best shooting PF to have EVER played the game. Bill Walton is going to have a field day running around guarding Dirk on the perimeter who will be knocking down 3's after 3's. With his 7'0 frame, he'll simply rise above for those mid-range jumpers. Dirk is the perfect pairing for Shaq as his shooting will spread the floor & make room for Shaq to operate down low.

Kevin Garnett: This is going to be the Minnesota version of Kevin Garnett who could guard anyone of SF, PF and C. He is going to be a menace on the floor, shutting down guys defensively even before they get into the paint. He'll be so long on the perimeter, Mullen won't be able to get a shot off. Offensively, he'll hit the fadeaway jumper and will be a slashing/alley hooping machine for Jason Kidd's pin point passing.

James Harden: Offensively he'll be wayyyyyyyy too strong for Iverson in this match up. Iverson doesn't even want to play defense. So Harden will drive the ball and finish it at the basket, or he'll just pull up for a 3pter. He'll put Iverson on constant foul trouble. He'll also shut down Iverson defensively with his quickness and big frame.

James-Harden-Dunk.jpg

Jason Kidd: One of the best passing PG to have ever played the game. He'll control the tempo. He's one of the only PG big enough & strong enough to contain Oscar defensively. Offensively, Kidd's 3 pt shooting will help spread the floor for everyone else to operate. He is 3rd ALL TIME in 3pts made (Oscar won't even know what hit him).

Bench:

Andrew Bynum (Lakers days) and Blake Griffin will provide strong presence and ENERGY off the bench. Bynum in his Lakers days won 2 rings for the ultra soft Gasol. Rondo will set the tone defensively at the Point and provide tremendous passing. But the key to this bench is 3pt shooting. Mitch Richmond and Peja Stojakovic (both Kings days) are arguably two of the purest 3pt shooters to have ever played the game. Especially with Rondo's pin point passing, he'll be setting up easy set 3pt shots that Mitch and Peja will be knocking down from all over the floor. Richmond will be wayy too strong for the out of position Byron Scott. And C-Web just won't be able to chase around Peja on the perimeter

Mitch Richmond will play the 6th man role offensively for us. Offensively this is how good he is. Mitch Richmond is one of only four players to average at least 21.0 points in each of their first 10 NBA seasons, and the others are all Hall of Famers or certain future inductees--Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan and Oscar Robertson

Spycam's write-up:

Hakeem vs Shaq

The battle of the titans. And with this one, we don't have to theorize too much on how it would go. We've already seen it, and it went a little something like this...

Hakeem was too much for Shaq when they met in the Finals. Some might argue that Shaq wasn't in his prime yet, but his stats were just as impressive then as when he eventually did win championships. And even AFTER Shaq was in his prime, he claimed Hakeem was the best center of all time. Check out this quote from when Shaq was with Cleveland:

"He was a guy that I couldn't break. All the other great centers, I was able to get into their heads a little...the five greatest centers--Hakeem, to me, is number one." -Shaquille O'Neal

And can you name someone other than Hakeem who won MVP, Finals MVP, and Defensive Player of the Year in the same year? I can't.

Hakeem wins the most important match up in this series.

Dirk vs Barkley

Dirk became one of the most overrated players after winning that ring. He's still a lousy rebounder with awful defense.

Rebounds win championships. Barkley was pulling down rebound titles during the best era for big men. Barkley was getting 14 boards a game, while Dirk got 7-8 in his best years.

And can you imagine the slow-footed Dirk trying to stay in front of Barkley clear out at the 3 point line? Barkley could penetrate like no PF ever, and he's being guarded by someone with snail like lateral quickness? Give me a break.

Not to mention Barkley routinely averaged 5 assists per game.

Bottom line, Barkley is a top-3 PF of all time. Both match ups in the post go to my team.

KG vs Hill

KG is NOT a SF. He's being played out of position here, no doubt a bout it. All of his shot blocking prowess is taken away by having him roam around the 3-point line.

And the whole point of KG at SF is supposedly to have a size advantage, yes? Well, you don't get much of that against Grant Hill. Many listed Hill at 6-9 with a monster wingspan. And he once pulled down 10 RPG.

Whatever advantages you would get from playing KG at SF, they are outweighed by the disadvantages. Especially against someone with the size and rebounding of Grant Hill.

Oh, one more time: Grant Hill averaged more assists and rebounds than LeBron James during their first four seasons. Let that sink in a little. Hill put up crazy numbers, and unlike guys like McGrady or Carter, he had the intangibles to top it all off.

KG is the better player as far as where they should go on the all time greats list, but playing SF, Hill is better.

Wade vs Harden

Wade won a Finals MVP as the #1 option for his team. Harden hasn't even won a playoff series as the top guy. Harden is good offensively, but Wade is better (was averaging 30 points and 7.5 assists). Plus, Harden is nowhere near the defender Wade is. Not even close.

Hell, my BACKUP SG is better than Harden. And Hotttnickkk agrees. He was shocked I picked Ray Allen and was debating between he and Harden for his next pick, but he thought Ray was better.

A quote from him:
I was fighting a decision of Ray Allen VS James Harden.

My head said Allen

nuff said

Kidd vs Payton

The closest match up of the series. But don't buy this crap nickkk is selling about Kidd being a 3 point shooter. He was a bad shooter in his prime and everyone knows it. Payton wasn't a good 3-point shooter for most of his career either, but he had better 3 point shooting seasons in his prime than Kidd.

Look at this season for Payton: 24 points / 9 assists / 6.5 rebounds while shooting 37% from 3 AND LED THE LEAGUE IN 3's MADE.

This match up is very close. One is clearly the better passer, while one is clearly the better defender (only PG to ever win DPOY) and scorer.

Bench

We've already established my backup SG is better than his starting SG, so I think says enough. Plus, I've got one of the best defenders ever coming off the bench in Mutumbo along with crazy 3 point shooting from Ray, Rice, and Lewis. Oh, and Deron Williams, was pretty good. ;)

P.S. Griffin sucks *** and Bynum would get injured in game 1 vs Mutumbo.

These teams are very well matched position for position. I think Hakeem has a slight advantage as a starting C, but not as much as KG as an SF.

Nod to hottttniikkkkk

WTF Spy??? You're using my write-up for the last game for this game against you????

How come you asked Hack if he wanted to start the game today or tomorrow but I have no say???

This isn't right bro.... :(

Wow.. this is really isn't fair.. I still have in my write up saying Harden vs Iverson... LOL

Why you doing this to me Spy?????

SMH...SMD... shacking my everythang... lol

Give me a chance to submit a new write-up and re-start this game... please... this is really ridiculous...

LOL.. Spy, you conveniently write up a whole new match-up specific stuff for this game...

But you gave me no chance to do the same... that's what really hurts bro... you know full well it's wrong.

If you think it would matter, you've got brain trauma.

Neg'd.

- Dirk is overrated? Talk to me again when the 7'0 Dirk shoots over and over and over and OVER the 6'9 Barkley. This to me is the key matchup.

- Lewis at the backup PF? Blake would DESTROY him in the post.

- Garnett will be wayyyyyyyyyy too long for Grant Hill defensively. If anyone can guard him he can.

- Kidd will be wayyy too big for Payton. He'll just back him down and score on him time and again.

A lot of spy's bench are possible starters plus (I'm sorry Nickkk) in his Prime Barkley>Nowitzki and Wade is still better than Harden. Mostly for his bench nod to spy.

Barkley gave Karl troubles and Karl would eat Nowitzki for lunch. ^This simply wouldn't happen. Barkley would push Dirk around.

But that's not the point though, I never got the chance to even write up my thoughts, etc. Spy had a point-by-point breakdown of the matchups.

He knowingly used mine from the last match. That's ****ed up IMO.

We spent like 2 weeks picking teams, but rushing through these matches in like 3 days... I'm still amazed TBH.

That's a fair point. I still think I would have taken spy.

There is no time like the present write one. I'm sure he would add it.

I could see your point if you were going to try and move guys around to get better match ups. But who your bench sucks.

I think people just don't remember how awesome KG was during his MVP prime. He was flat out unstoppable (e.g., 35/18/8/4). The knock on him was that he liked to play out on the floor and face up. As a combo forward, he can do just that. And no, Glen Rice wouldn't hurt him. Rice would do well to get a shot off at all.

Voted for SPY because I can't get with running a pf at sf in this contest. Its not ideal.

If we were just picking talent alone and not worrying about position then maybe hottyk.

I Do think its b.s. that SPY shafted me and hotty on our right ups though.

Yeah.. it's really out of his character to do that.. may be he had to rush somewhere.....

But I just can't believe we spent like 2 weeks painstakingly choosing our teams and rushed through these games in like 3 days... what's the point of having the games without a proper write-up????
