Poll: Hayward vs. Millsap

I think most here would agree that Millsap was the 4th best player on a Western Conference title contender. So, this got me thinking: is the Jazz future 3rd-4th best player (Hayward) ever going to be better than the 4th best player for our past Western Conference title contender (Millsap)?

Millsap's best season when used correctly was 17.3/7.6/2.5 with 4.4 FTA/game.

He also shot .531 from the field. I doubt Hayward ever improves his .435 to that high. Hayward does get 1 more assist per 36 minutes but also 6.6 less rebounds.

Hayward is the recipient of racial privilege, so I think he will overcome his lack of scoring, rebounds and shooting percentage to be seen as better than Millsap.

Your divisive rhetoric is more intense than at any other time in the history of this board. It's like you're purposefully trying to be Christian Laettner playing the hero in Expendables 3.

(p.s. I nominate you for POTOS)

Massive LoLz. This thread reminds me the Kwame Kanter trolling.

I guess I don't understand how or why this is supposed to be some kind of troll attempt or joke. But then again, half of Jazz fans/z think that Millsap was and is little more than Jason Maxiell so there's that I guess.

Really? Millsap and Hayward are COMPLETELY different players and franklin knows that very well.

Yes, but a player can be generally better. Sometimes a perfectly ripe, organic apple is just better than a rotten orange sitting in the bottom of a stocking in March.

I don't know that the point is to say one is better than the other, but I think it's fair to say that they might be comparable players even if their skill-sets aren't exactly identical.

Nobody will average more than 20 points per game if we keep this core together. Its not a bad thing. Maybe Kanter in the future but we will be balanced the way Memphis was last year.

I have to admit I have no idea why I thought Millsap was top 4 on that 2007 team.... no clue what I was thinking.

That's true but I don't know, the post itself was tricky. He gave Millsap's stats, compared their FGs and he even talked about rebounds. When you think Millsap is a PF and Hayward is a SF/SG, those comparisons sound trollish to me.

This.
So, are you trolling or not?

I'm very interested to see how Millsap does on his new team. I love the guy, but I have also developed some reservations about him.

Hope he does really well.

Funny thing, their height is almost identical, but only Hayward was willing to be a SF. Yeah, their weights are different, but with Millsap's
guard skills' the difference really isn't that great.

I suppose it depends on who's reading.

Haylord should be a 20 ppg player, our first since Deron Willems.
BUIG Owl was not a 20 ppg player.

If he averages 20 with reasonable efficiency then I probably have to put him ahead of Millsap. However, Millsap has been chronically underrated on this board ever since the D-Will trade as everyone started looking past him and Jefferson. His shoes are pretty big to fill. We're talking about a guy who put up 18.2/36 on a team with Al Jefferson (18.7) and D-Will (20.2).
