What's new

Could somebody please make a fantastic gamethread for the upcoming GSW game?

Tue 8 vs Golden State Preseason EnergySolutions Arena, Salt Lake City, UT 7:00 PM MT ROOT Sports

I release all my rights of freedom of speech and even all my posts up 'till now for the awesome gamethread anyone would like to post and let this thread be sent to the depths of heck. Heck I tell ya!

Preseason games? meh.

I have a hard time watching players who are exactly identical to contract players with the exception that they have way less talent getting time at the end of the game when we are barely ahead, thus throwing the game simply because they need to get some time on the floor so they can go play overseas.

That's not to say I won't watch, I just can't imagine putting any effort into creating anything creative.

(edit: MAN, that is a buzzkill. I apologize to everyone for that. The season is getting underway, HUZZAH!)

I was gonna boo your post, but this part made me hold back.
You were lucky this time!... You don't want to be booed by me

Yes they do. As the preseason wears on less and less of them are around and see time. Keep in mind that the Jazz have 13 players. So they could keep up to two of the invitees. Have to test them somehow.

I hope it isn't like years past where the jazz try to play everyone a decent amount.

I think they should use the pre-season to get ready for the regular season..... So if you have dudes in camp that you KNOW are not going to be on the team in reg season, then don't play them a single minute in pre-season.

The jazz have always been the nice guys though so Im sure that everyone will play...... Its kinda like jr jazz in that regard

Do camp invites play in preseason?

It depends on how the game is coached. I doubt that more than 12-14 players get into each game, though. If you look at the summer league games some of the players played in some games, some played in others.

And since we are a team of mostly young players, the starters will need more PT together as a unit than a team of veterans might -- this goes for the second unit as well. So I'd guess that the players at the far end of the bench may not get much time if any before they are cut. But in theory, anybody that is on the roster and is healthy can play.

We need to play our starters big time in the preseason. I want Burke and Favors/Kanter working on that pick and roll as much as possible.

I think most the camp invites are nothing more than bodies to practice against.

But like I said..... the jazz have always been the nice guys who play the 16th guy on the bench so that he has an oppurtunity to show other teams what he can do.

Hopefully the circumstances this year will have the jazz playing the core players big time minutes in preseason but I'm skeptical
