Preseason was fun to watch to observe youngster's performances.
*The results and weird rotation of Corbin were not surprising at all. (Kanter's reduced min, Gobert's appearence till the last match, Evans' starting role etc)
*Spacing will be the problem for the team. We will live still hard time against the team who knows how to clog the paint. Mediocre shooting ability from behind the arc will hunt us.
*PnR or Pnp of both wings seem more efficient than high block. Hayward's and Jefferson's assists numbers will be the key for us.
*The defense still not the best part but most definitely we are gonna be good at it. Favors' min, ability to avoid the fouls is obligation for this area. Hayward and Jefferson must be better while defending PnR against the screens.
*It's obvious we are lack of qualified PG so offense seemed mediocre at best. Hayward's aggressiveness and improved midrange jumpers will help too much and become main factor of our big's performances. His basketball iq and play of point forward contributes directly to the team.
*Kanter's gonna need some time to perform well as we've been all waiting. His strenght, boxing out, post up defense and rotation all were mediocre. On offense; his dribbling, midrange jumpers, offensive boards all fun to watch. Yet, he's gotta learn how to pass against the double team.
*Favors' boards, blocks, surprisingly assists, cover of Kanter's back on the weakside all made us happy. Still, his offense depends on PnR, put backs after o-boards and going to the free throw line. He needs to be consistent, avoid early fouls and gotta improve his face up game. Whenever he tries to post up like Kanter or Big Al, it's miss or TO.
*Jefferson's made me optimistic that he still has got something in the tank. Good cuts after screens, consistent midrange jumpers, perfect passing ability and leadership on the court.
*Lucas is the surprise rabbit coming out of the hat. He can make you either happy or cry in the same min. His passing and court vision is average at best but once he makes the shots behind the arc, spacing becomes much better for Kanter's post up game or Hayward's cut to the rim.
*Gobert's name means "potential". He's got so long way to go but seems quick learner, perfect rebounder and blocker. Corbin needs to find some min for him to get experience and use his motor and speedy fett on PnR with the second unit.
*Burks is Burks and this is not either compliment or diatribe. Inconsistent shooting, questionable drives to the rim, easy To and all. Still he knows to how to be at FT line and will be the 1st option stepping on the court off the bench as a scorer.
*Biedrins knows he's gonna be out of the team after this year so he's just hanging out. Still, he knows how to defend and rebound in limited min. Sure, Gobert must be ahead of him in the rotation and he's gotta hold towel at the bench.
*Evans should be our victory cigar. Some beautiful dunks, blocks. He's gotta pray for his athletic ability and swear himself still for being garbage man.
