In all honesty, everyone needs to lighten up. Fans are "fanatical" about something, that is the definition, so when they feel they have an emotional investment it is only natural to question, complain, argue, suggest, bitch, moan, cheer, express displeasure and excitement alike. It is part and parcel of being a fan. For those of us who own season ticks, or who regularly attend games, it is more than an emotional investment so we feel we have a quasi-"right" to call for change. Since the Jazz FO won't listen, this is our forum to do just that. As far as fan forums go, this one is not as extreme as others I have frequented, and many here have a solid understanding of the game and can carry on a good convo/argument/debate/discussion. The one thing that separates this forum from others I have been associated with is the vitriole spewed between/at other posters. So you disagree, fine say that, give a counterpoint, tell them to check facts, but the childishness of the "delete your account", "you are a moron", and constant sarcasm tends to get old pretty fast, not to mention boring and predictable. In the mood to criticize a player, or the coach or GM or team in some way? Be prepared to have your intelligence, meaning as a human being, and/or sexuality called into question. For some reason many here feel the need to or get off on belittling other posters rather than discussing the merits of the post. As I said, childishness. But mostly at tolerable levels, thank goodness.
That said, this is a pretty good forum, and at the very least it is pretty entertaining, which is the whole point of being a fan after all: entertainment. The Jazz and the JazzFanz forum will never cure cancer or solve world hunger or even make much more than a fleeting difference in the local community, but it sure is a great way to kill a few hours!
