Game #31. Jazz at Memphis. Monday 6pm mtn

The message should have been clear to Ty last summer when we didn't resign Millsap. The organization wants to develop the youth on the team. DL even said on a radio interview that Ty will be judged on how he develops the youth and improves the team defensively. According to what DL said, Ty is GONE after this season.

Player development == all players under the age of 25 playing 30 minutes together every game without exception.

duh.

This.
Good to see gvc finally figuring it out

Even more of a reason for Ty Corbin to win this year.

He only hurts his coaching opportunities by assisting the tank. By winning now, he becomes an attractive coach for teams looking for a new coach this summer.

The Jazz need to find out if Kanter is good or not. He needs minutes with Burke AND Favors. I don't understand why Ty doesn't play them together at all.
Because Kanter playing with Burke and/or Favors has been an unmitigated disaster this season. The numbers (per48 scores & +/-):

Kanter with neither Burke nor Favors: 305 MP, -13.69 (89.55-103.24)

Kanter with Favors (Burke on bench): 309 MP, -21.13 (84.19-105.32)

Kanter with Burke (Favors on bench): 127 MP, -21.92 (89.20-111.12)

Kanter with Burke AND Favors: 55 MP, -19.2 (89.89-109.09)

Burke with Favors (Kanter on bench): 335 MP, +4.16 (99.58-95.43)

Maybe Corbin believes it best for development to put young players in a position to succeed as much as possible. Maybe Enes's skills/play don't mesh well with Favors or Burke. Maybe Enes isn't that good, and Corbin wants Favors and Trey to better learn to play together.

I'm sorry but no one had played extra well with Lucas or even Garrett.
Kanter is coming off a pretty serious injury and the way he's being used is killing every bit of confidence in him.
A good coach would get the most out of someone. Not the opposite.
In my opinion Enes has been playing the wrong position all year. They are trying to turn him into a perimeter player. He is a strong guy and they don't seem to know how to use that to his advantage. Teach him 2 solid post moves and let him use it.
Enough with the worthless hope he turns into Memo Okur.

What? When Enes has been on the court with Trey (with or without Favors), the team has played terribly. The team has performed better when Enes plays with neither of those two (which implies he's playing with Lucas or Garrett...).

So getting destroyed playing big minutes with Favors and Trey is better for his confidence? What does playing with someone who doesn't yet grasp the basics of team play (Enes) do for Trey's and Favors' development? Does that matter?

So, if I understand correctly, Corbin should go away from what's been working, and instead play Kanter heavy minutes with Trey and Favors, dumping the ball into the post so Enes can score inefficiently and create nothing for his teammates? This is your recipe for developing the young talent? Yikes.

Enes isn't being given the ball in the post that much because he makes poor reads, turns the ball over a ton, and isn't scoring efficiently. He'll likely get more responsibility, minutes and touches when he does a decent job using the responsibility, minutes and touches he's being given now.

Call me crazy but I'd rather put Kanter out there and live with the results than secure a handsome little 3 year deal for Marvin Williams on another team next year (see Randy Foye).

If at the end of the season it's still not working then you can trade Kanter or least provide yourself with better direction come draft day.

How can you explain that Kanter was the most efficient player offensively after BIG-AL-JEFFERSON on this team ?

Its not a thing about playing against starters or bench players, Kanter atleast played solid offense against starting five players and now he is struggling coming of the bench.

This is what they should be doing. If I were DL, I'd trade Marvin Williams and Richard Jefferson ASAP for whatever he can get for them. Then I'd instruct Ty to put Kanter, Favors, Hayward, Burks and Burke out there to start every game unless one of them is banged up. After that, he can play JL3, Evans, Garrett, Biedrins, Gobert and Rush however much he wants to. Live with the results of this strategy for good or bad.
