Burke Nro. 1 in ESPN Rookie Ranking (insider)

trey needs to get stronger. 3 reps 185 bench press is very disappointing. lilard did 13 times and he has longer reach. basically trey never worked out in his life.

i did 185lb 5 times when i was 9th grade in high school with just 2 months of working out

You mean wingspan, Trey's reach is actually superior to Lillard by 2 inches. But ya he needs about 10 lbs of muscle so he can bounce off defenders like Paul and Lillard do.

Isn't Trey three years younger than Lillard? He'll add some muscle.

1. Trey Burke, Utah Jazz
As he completes his first full month of his rookie season, Burke looks like he has a lot of Damian Lillard in him. While Lillard wasn't a master of any particular part of the game during his rookie season, he was accomplished in a lot of areas on his way to becoming the league's rookie of the year. This season, his play has jumped thanks to his superior shooting and talent at running a high-powered offense.

Burke is not in Lillard's class as they compare today, yet there are signs that he is headed in that direction quickly. His poise and overall understanding of the game are already above that of most young guards with more playing experience in the NBA. Watch him attack the paint off ball screens or out of isolations. See him play with patience most of the time. Admire his ability to use his body to create space or pivot around defenders who get too aggressive trying to take away that space. He is showing the willingness to be his team's best player and scorer when the situation calls for it, not being content to be just a ball mover who feeds his veteran teammates.

As we look forward it will be hard not to expect much more from Burke, who has found a way to dominate games despite his lack of size and elite athletic ability, because Utah's schedule will get easier (the Jazz have played the most difficult schedule in the NBA so far). Plus, Burke has proven he has the ability to improve (like he did from his freshman season to his sophomore season at Michigan), which should give Jazz fans more reason to smile.

ah that's right. lillard has wide *** shoulder, but short arms. so it's easier for him to bench with wide *** grip

2 years and 4 months younger

it just seems like trey never really bench pressed in his life. remember trey is solid 187lb. he is not a puny guy. mcw with same weight and longer arm did 8 reps.

They test them on free weights which takes some practice to get the hang of, Trey may be use to machines, hard to know. I don't think it is currently hurting his game that much.

You did that with a barbell? Or with that "bench press" machine? Because if it's the former, you're lying. If it's the latter, it's not impressive. I've been lifting for nearly 5 months, and I can bench 140 with a barbell, and about 220 on the machine.

Edit: those numbers are for a set of 5.

free weight, of course. i never believed in machine especially when it comes to bench press. i was 6ft 175lb when i was 9th grade. there were plenty of 9th graders who did 225lb 5 times in my high school. i lived in south. we were country strong. everybody was trying out for football.

you don't have to believe me, but my best max was 375. i was 24.
