Jeremy Evans kinda reminds me of...

...a young Dennis Rodman (before he became a head case). Both extremely athletic and lanky, I think Evans can become a dominant rebounder like Rodman was if he wants to be. Evans just needs to learn how to tip the ball to himself (a rebounding technique Rodman mastered) because we all know he can outjump everyone. A couple of big difference though, Evans can actually shoot the ball, whereas Rodman was a complete dud offensively. Evans is not as strong as Rodman was though...can you imagine Evans trying to guard Karl Malone, yikes. He'll need to get a little bigger and stronger. If Evans puts the work in (he's done it with his shooting obviously) for other facets of his game, I think he can be a special player.

What ? Evans is already 26 years of age, he is not a young talent, he is almost the same age as AL-Jefferson is and has the body of a highschool kid. It´s a disgrace to compare Evans with a player like Rodman who played with brute intensity and was an excellent defender throughout his career.

Evans will never be the Defender,
Never will be the Rebounder,
and never ever will be the Character Rodman was

Great post.

Evans has the potential to be great.

I think we re-sign him for a steal at 10 mil per year.

i hope you are joking. rodman is the greatest rebounder of all time. dude was a physical freak. his core strength was insane, he was a natural ball hawk. his timing was also insane.

I'm not saying Evans will become a better rebounder than Rodman, but he definitely has the physical tools to become a very good rebounder in this league IMO.

Yeah.. its possible. But Rodman...
Dude would get hammered drunk, come to play the next night and still get you atleast 15 rebounds..

Maybe Evans could have been Like Dennis Roadman, but we will never know because the jazz parked him on the bench for his first three seasons and play him 12 mpg now.

Kanter could be the next Karl Malone

Gobert could block more shots than Eaton.

Sorry, I shouldn't post angry.

rodman once avg 18reb for entire season!! twice!!

evans would be lucky if he avg 9. it's hard for skinny dudes to rebound. they get boxed out easily

and people forget that Rodman entered the NBA as a 25 year old rookie and he didn't become a truly dominant rebounder until he was 30 years old

How are you defining "truly dominate"? I'd say his second year in the league, where he played 26 minutes and grabbed 9 boards, for a guy 6'7", is pretty dominate. I'd also say his college RPG for each year of 13, 16 and 18 were not too shabby either.

This is not a slight to Jeremy but rebounding isn't really based on physical tools. You can either do it or you can't. Someone like Brook Lopez should have all the physical tools too, but he doesn't. Jeremy's highest rebounding average in college was his senior year where he pulled down 6.9. I've never seen anyone develop rebounding skills that weren't present when they were in college or early in the league. I could be very wrong, but I'd love to know of any if there are.
