Important TANK alert

CJ has a expiring contract and I'm pretty sure we have an amnesty that doesn't expire from the last collective bargaining session

From what I now understand the amnesty works only on players already on your roster before a certain date.

Teams are going to tank. Duh. We all knew that the lakers had a high probability of joining the tank from the time Kobe was seriously hurt last year. This isn't a surprise.

It also changes nothing from the Jazz's standpoint. We are built to tank. However, a coach fighting for his life and 2 vets who desire new contracts playing big roles prevent us from tanking.

The Jazz cannot control what the lakers do. They can and always have had control over their own record. And right now it appears as if the Jazz are trying to make the playoffs rather than tank.

If the Jazz want to counter the Lakers all they have to do is give kanter starters mins, play more Gobert, and play more JL3.

But, in this scenario we have assets to pull off the same trade and we don't need anything in return maybe a pick down the road. And we sabotage Lakers move to ensure their tank job.

Yep.

But since when have we done that? We have a long 30+ year history of being dormant come trading time. We are arguably the most conservative franchise in the league. In other words, don't expect us to do anything other than stand pat.

I am not in tha fan of making trades just to sabotage the Lakers (or any other team). No thanks. I want trades that further the Jazz's own goals. Not trades just to mess with other teams.

It would be killing two birds with one stone. We don't do it to just hurt the Lakers. But, to stop them from making moves that we can't compete with and we go all in with our youth development season/tank. This is chess and sometimes you have to think a couple of moves before to win the game.

Imagine the Lakers with Parker or Wiggins. Now they have already started with a better player plus they have the ability to draw big time free-agents. We would be giving up ground on two fronts.

I agree but you seem to be thinking about things that should have no bearing on Utah's decisions. If they trade for Bynum it should be based on what he does for (or more likely to) Utah and their current goals. I hate the Lakers but pulling things off just to upset them is horrible policy.

I get you are arguing both but the Lakers side of that arguement is worthless to me and holds no water.
