Currently reading The Red Wolf Conspiracy. It's been hard to get addicted to but the story isn't too bad so far.


I'm on book 3 of The Morganville Vampires series. It's been surprisingly good for a teen book.


Also on the shelf is the final book of the Mercy Thompson series. It was a good series outside the last one, which took on more of the sitcom route rather than expanding the story.

Although I still need to finish Doctor Sleep by Stephen King. The first little bit of Doctor Sleep was really good, but now it's shifted into a standard B-movie thriller type thing. I haven't been able to get back into it.

Damn, I hate to hear that. I love King but I felt that way about Dreamcatcher, and that is one of the only books of his that I actually never finished because it went from one of the best reads ever to the ****tiest **** that ever **** in about 200 pages. Bummer.

So tell me... Pads or tampons?

I'm a huge King fan too. Reading the 800 page version if the Stand in one furious sitting is one of my fondest reading memories. And King's last book, about a time-traveler who reverses the JFK assassination, is one of his best books. Dude's almost 70 and still churning out quality work.


You might like Doctor Sleep more. It seems like a lot of people really like it. The first half of the novel is about Danny and his mother after escaping the Overlook hotel in the Shinning. Without spoiling anything, Danny's supernatural ability+his father trying to kill him, leading him to alcoholism and eventually to recovery, is much more interesting than the villains who show up later in the novel. The thing about King is, as you pointed out with Dreamcatcher, he's actually a really talented writer with an eye for people. Most horror writers don't have the literary ability he has. And yet his books often devolve into B-movies, stuff you would see on Fear.net or something. And it's frustrating because we know he's better than that.

Also of note, I reread The Talisman and then Black House over Christmas and I must say, those two books are bad *** as well. I love it when a story that rocks on its own can all of a sudden tie into The Dark Tower and become amazing. Same thing with Nsomnia; if you haven't read that, you're doing yourself a big disservice.

In my defense, *******, I commute at least two hours per day and work on the road a bit. Many books I "read" are on tape, which gets expensive ($15 each). I'm limited to the free public supply, or listening to a.m. Radio which makes me want to pound screwdrivers into my ears. I'd rather listen to Twighlight than Collin Cowherd or Glenn Beck.

I have read almost every book by SK and my favorite of all of them is "Cell"
A movie for cell is suppossed to come out this year!
