Random observations after looking over the stats for all Jazz players...

- Jeremy Evans (22) has the second highest PER on the team...right in between Millsap (22.9) and DWill (21.1). This just confirms what always seems to happen when Evans is in the game...he generally does something good. Grab a board, finish an alley oop, make a nice pass, etc. I've never seen anyone get so many dunks in so few minutes.

- Hayward (3.8) and Fes (4.4) have absolutely abysmal PER's. Just turrible. Now, I'm no firm believer in PER being an absolute when it comes to player performance, but those numbers are alarming. For comparison, Elson and Price have PER's of 11.5 and 10.1, respectively.

- CJ Miles is outperforming Raja in every statistical category except overall FG% (.408 compared to .405) and FT% (.92 compared to .84). Obviously Raja is a better on the ball defender even with his age getting up there, but should he really be playing 29 minutes a night to CJ's 23?

- Evans, Millsap, and Elson are the only players on the team with adjusted FG%'s of 50% or higher. Millsap and AK are shooting better from 3-point range than they are from inside the line. In fact, AK is barely over the "Mendoza Line" from 2-point range at .404.

-Al Jefferson (1.38) is leading the team in BPG. AK is averaging 1.04. When was the last time AK didn't lead our team in BPG? Since we drafted him, I think...

Gotta go eat, so this will be cut short a bit. Might add more later. Thoughts? Any other notable observations?

Good stuff honz. My only argument for you would be that Raja should be getting those minutes because he was in fact brought in for his on court leadership and defense. The Jazz offense will always score if run correctly. Also, CJ is so hot and cold that you never know which one you're going to get. Thankfully he's been doing good the past 3 games but I wouldn't be surprised if he has a 2-5 point outing the next time out, I hope not but I wouldn't be surprised.

Hayward hasn't had many scoring opportunities so I wouldn't read that much into his PER. Fes on the other hand, well lets be honest, he's not the next coming of Mark Eaton by any means. Elson is better by far at this point.

I love Jeremy Evans, he's my 2nd favorite player behind Deron. I think he can easily be groomed to take over a starting spot for AK at the 3 in a year or two and then he would grow into an even better version of the old AK that we all knew and loved.

see why per isnt an absolute stat for a player greatness. by just watching the game with fes in there jazz seem to get more rebounds. sometimes he jumps en tips the rebound to a jazz player. but the epr does not acount for that.
or how about the intiimidation factor. like the flagrant foul. trust me some players especially the small lil ones like ceepee3 and other guards where intimidated no easy layups as fes showed

Fesenko leads the league in sheepishly raising his hand every time he fouls someone.

Hey Fes, they can probably make you out from the scorer's table - no need to put up a paw.

It certainly is intimidating to a six footer that a seven foot plus guy would rather grab you and throw you to the floor rather than try to block your shot.

it was an awesome foul. the funny thing is 10-15 years ago it would not have been a called flagrant. but a good playoff foul

Honz, in your opinion, should Bozzer be brought back?

A) Yes
B) No

Thanks!
Yes. There's just so many times when I think that there is a dunk that Bozzer would have finished better (I LOVE his monkey swing), a rebound that Bozzer would have grabbed, and it's hard to tell when Jefferson gets fouled on a shot, can't grab a rebound, or when he sees a foul that is flagrant as a mother ****er. I bet he doesn't even talk on defense. He needs to be more vocal out there.

I honestly believe the Jazz would be giving up 10 more PPG if Boozer were here. Maybe more.

Oh yeah, and I forgot...what should we call the basketball version of the "Mendoza Line".
