Gobert Needs Court Time

I see some people think Corbin is right in keeping Gobert on the bench. Well, I disagree. In fact, ever since I saw him play, I thought this guy should be getting minutes, that he can be a force and we need to develop him.

But no, it's been the typical Jazz approach. A guy who shows ability but is raw, like Burks when he came up, languishes on the bench because he lacks experience. Well, of course, this is the way to go if you're a top team like San Antonio and you need to win games. But this is not the way to go when you're at best a borderline playoff team and this year we're not even close to that. This is when you play your young guys and don't give a hill of beans about winning or losing. It's about learning and developing.

Have any of you guys been teachers? I have. When you're a bottomfeeder with young guys, it's time to be teaching, not worrying about winning or losing. What does that teach Gobert when he takes him out of the game because he might get fouled? Brain dead Bonehead Corbin doesn't have a clue about teaching. You learn by doing not watching. It's one of the basic principles of learning that's only been around for a century.

And does Corbin have even the remotest concern about who we draft? Since he's apparently a lame duck coach, I hope, then not. But God forbid he's not, then he's even dumber than I think he is.

There is too much to lose if we play him this year. He might cause us to lose, and keep the vets from getting good contracts next year.

Kanter will never get fast enough to start with Favors and this will cut Rudy's minutes all the time, which is a consequence of Kanter being veterer than him in years pro. Why did he call him back if he was going to sit? Did the towel guy quit his job or something? Being a rookie is one thing. But you need to give them confidence on always knowing they will earn their minutes on the court.

How about we start Kanter and Favors for a good amount of games to see how they can really play together.

I would like that very much but just for the sake of being able to see their ability to compliment each other, build a stronger chemistry. Kanter not being the starting-position-threatening sub for Favors and no unwelcome competition between the two rookie-sophomore-hood friends. And instead, a non competitive more relaxed game that they try to fill each other's game's gaps. That might be dreaming of course, in case Enes is not into sharing or letting go the rebounds because I can easily say that Derrick isn't from the looks of it.

But them playing alongside for the rest of the season also cannot convince me of the pace and speed issue. They are slow in transition defense. Hence, too much turnover and fast break points allowed.

The key to make this work is to let Enes work on becoming a three point shooter. Spot up.

You have to ask yourself this. Which is more valuable to the future of the Jazz? Playing Gobert more, developing him now, or giving Marvin Williams a big role on this team?

Which scenario is better for the team long term?

You can tell Ty could care less about the future of developing players. Why would he play John Lucas the turd even a minute. Gobert definitely needs a few minutes.

You mean, because that worked so poorly for Burks?

Maybe it did...... we will never know.

Right now burks is fighting for minutes with richard jefferson of all people, a guy who could not even get on the court last year, and is still coming off the bench.

Burks might be an all star this year if he was handled differently...... there is simply no way to know how he would look now if he had more playing time in those previous years.

What we do know as fact is that randy foye, josh howard, cj miles, raja bell, and earl watson all have zero points, zero rebounds, zero assists, and a per of zero for the jazz this year.

I'm pos repping you Eenie Menie to balance out the tards negging you.

Lol. This argument makes no sense. A back up PG is going to play. Lucas playing takes time from Garrett. Not exactly a travesty. Lucas on or off the floor has no bearing on Goberts playing time.

I think there is some merit to this post. A Gobert-Favor tandem would not have this problem. However, it would have a huge offensive liability as things stand now. I doubt Rudy will ever be much of an offensive threat -- you never know. But just imagine him and Favors in there protecting the rim, what a defensive combo.

WHy isn't Sloan playin Jarmy Everns?

He also might be out of the league if he were handled differently.

From what I recall of description around Burks at the time he was drafted, he's playing as well as anyone ever expected. I don't see any reason to think it will be different for Gobert.
