What's new

The question still remains can jazz do this in LA.

and no not against the clippers

but when will jazz beat lakers in LA.

so i'm not really that hyped about this win.

i did love the game 19 point comeback etc.

but still is this the year jazz finally beat lakers in Los Angeles

Who cares if we can beat them in LA. Just get a better regular season record than them and we won't have to.

well we haven't gotten a chance to play them there have we? Good win tonight regardless, we should major toughness coming back after kobe hit all those 3's.

Honestly, I thought the Jazz would get exposed tonight. Despite the winning, we're not playing that well. Winning during this stretch of the schedule is incredibly advantageous as long as they really get it together eventually. Even a dip in December will still put us in great position to kick *** in January/February. That "kick in" is what I'm looking for. We're nowhere near the team we can be. But we have the potential to be better than any Jazz team in a decade or more.

Well said. The Jazz are still a work in progress. Jefferson can still get better as he gets more comfortable with the offense. Maybe Okur/Jefferson gives us better size to match up with LA. It was a good win after a terrible first quarter. What is it about this team? Maybe Sloan should set the clocks ahead. The starters need to wake up 1/2 hour earlier each game.

I rarely give someone negative rep, but I tempted to with dutchjazzer. Jeebus H. Gripe! The Jazz could have/should have folded. Down 19 to the best team in the league. Not playing very well. But they fought back. No, the Jazz aren't as good as the Lakers. LA is missing Bynum, Jazz are missing Okur. Call the injury situation a wash. But Utah didn't quit. And they pulled out a win. Let's all be happy tonight.

You're right we haven't played as well as we could, but that can't be expected 17 games into the season with 6 new players. 12-5 is a great record considering the new pieces and the comebacks have showed that this team has the mental toughness the boozer teams never had.

Also, Big Al is starting to look better and better, and Earl Watson is a great backup to Deron. Definitely agree that this could be our best team since the late 90's.

I believe it does.

1. Jefferson can go up against the slender Gasol instead of going about against the bigger Bynum

2. Okur brings Bynum or Gasol out of the paint because of his 3 point ability.

The OP's point is fair. I don't care if we end up with home court advantage, do we honestly believe we will win out with home court advantage? I think it is more likely a team like the Lakers take a game in Utah so we need to take one in LA in that scenario.

I think the jazz are able to defend Gasol better one on one. Kobe seems a little less mobile right now, so even though he's scoring like Jordan, he's at least not breaking the Jazz down. Not sure how Kobe will be in the playoffs.

The other question is how well Fisher and Blake will shoot the ball. Sloan will give up the deep jumpers. It just depends on whether the Lakers will hit them.

Jazz have proved over and over this year they can win on the road. This game is not luck i will tell you that. I am not saying the jazz will win the lakers come playoff time but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they do. This teams is more built to play against a team like the lakers.
