Aaron Falk @SL Tribune wants to hear from tankers

Me and fish rooted for the jeffercats when they came to town while decked out in Jazz gear. Pretty sure everyone around was confused as ****. That's about my only "crazy tank" story.

Oh, and I poisoned Ian Clark. Almost forgot about that one.

You wish.

Anyone who has held up a "Keep Corbin" sign: true tank supporter.
Anyone who has chanted "We want Lucas": true tank supporter.

Went to the dude who he interviewed's "tanking website", he's one of those retarded *** "hey it's actually better to finish 3rd worst than worst cuz usually someone jumps ahead of the worst team" guys.

The ping pong balls don't have memories. We just want the most combinations possible.

Exactly. Someone should remind him what happened in 2005 when the Jazz were in perfect position to get Williams or Paul, only to see Milwaukee and Atlanta jump up in the lottery. Fortunately KOC had the assets to trade and Portland was stupid enough to do it.

This draft is likely going to be like 2010. Granted, we don't know yet if Embiid and Parker will declare (I think they will), but there seems to be a clear top-5 emerging with Embiid replacing Randle in that upper tier. Trading up is going to be difficult. Maybe the odds are against Milwaukee winning the #1 pick. But it's an absolute certainty the worst team will at least finish 4th. And the 2nd worst, 5th. So yes, it DOES matter if a team finishes with one of the worst two records or the 3rd/4th/5th worst.

As long as Embiid and Parker come out, the odds are pretty good for Utah even with a 6th-worst record. Best case, Jazz move up. Worst case (only 4% chance) is sliding to 8th or 9th. In the absence of a top-5 pick (and I wouldn't want Smart), the Jazz could still get either Vonleh or Randle if they're sitting at #7 after the lottery.

My god, how are people that bad at math?
Or even simple logic. They're the same people that go to Vegas (or an Indian casino) and keep losing and losing because the "odds" have to swing in their favor if they just keep putting money in the same machine or playing the same number(s).

I agree that it is a bad case to argue and the worst record would be better than the 3rd/4th/5th... But I honestly do not think many of those people are viewing it as a math problem.

I agree. I am just saying that I do not think they are looking at it that way. So to me it is not a math problem as much as a thinking problem.
I guess the incredible wealth of Vegas is proof that you are right. It's amazing to me how stupid so many people are when it comes to simple logic and math.

Only explanation I can come up with is that they simply are not thinking it thru.
