What's new

Cross Marcus Smart off the list of possible Jazz draft picks

He had a pretty troubled childhood. He spent a good amount of time in anger management during high school and came out as an actually very mature individual. It's sad to see him take a step backwards like this, but I'm sure he'll respond well.

I don't really care about what he did, but he's taking all the pub from the Jazz and ma boi Melvin. ****ing media whore

New nick name: Marcus not so

He won't lose as much money as Jared Sulinger did or that Austin kid is going to, but it is still going to cost him.

Too bad the Knicks don't have a pick, seems like a good fit. Probably end up a Laker.

We don't know what was said, but regardless don't think the Jazz would have much interest he has no jump shot yet still chucks a ton.

I'd imagine that fat hillbilly said something pretty "off color". If so, **** him directly in his ***.

For sure man, fake tough guys should go un-policed their whole lives, right? *thumbs up emoji, dawg*

I don't know anything about his game, but when was the last time the Jazz had someone with that much passion? I think DuhRon was the last guy who would get pissed off about losing to the point of stupid **** like this. While I guess it could be a red flag, there's something about it that appeals to me. The NBA has lost its intensity and players have lost their insane desire to win at all costs. Good for this kid, imo.

*insert boner joke here* (or in rep)

Just as the old guy was saying "no offense"(probably) so that must have been pretty offensive. I don't blame the kid for that. It is a stupid move nonetheless but I don't think it will hurt his stock much.

They showed that, that fan has been pretty rude and offensive the whole season. A lot of players are supporting Smart mostly saying that he shouldn't have reacted, but not to judge him and what not.

That guy had it coming soon enough.

Banjos.

I think what the fan said matters. There is an interesting double standard. A fan can say whatever they want, but the guy that is being pushed to be the best, pushing his body to its physical limits, amped up on adrenalin and riding a strong emotion response to the situation is supposed to just meekly turn around, say "yes sir thank you sir, yes my mother is a ****" and walk away? I think that is unrealistic. Should he be punished for accosting a fan? He probably should, but it should be commensurate with the crime. If I shoot someone who enters my house and attacks my family that is far different than if I draw on someone in a grocery store and shoot them in the back of their head. I would get different punishments in each case, maybe none in the first case, and it should be the same for the athletes. The situation should matter.

That said I would not mind at all having someone with some passion. All we get is Favors furrowing his brow and Corbin straightening his $500 tie. Get someone out there who takes losing personally for once.

That's part of why I'd be good with Smart (outside the top 5). He's got real fire and leadership about him. And if you've followed his career thus far you'd know he's remarkably poised and mature for his age, despite this incident. I actually think the Jazz FO would really like this kid.

Hope they have audio and can tell what the guy said. Some 60 yr old "super fan" thinking he's ALL THAT by getting a reaction from a college player. Probably never played basketball in his life. Smart should get suspended for a couple of games, but that fan should lose his season tickets.

Would rep if I could. I loath how big of a pùssy Favors is, especially since he looks like he should be scary as hell.

Yes, for sure we need a less talented Artest... what you are calling passion I call lack of self control, but to each his own..

And, amazingly, you're one of the few people who has been on this board for years that actually has less JRC (Jazz related credibility) than me. ****ty takes and ****ty opinions go hand in hand, I suppose.
