Stan Van gundy on Gordon Hayward...

The next Larry Bird? That's like saying Burks is the next Michael Jordan. You could say they are similar type ballplayers but they're not nearly in the same league. You're talking about all-time greats.

SVG would be right at home with the Jazz. He could make it like the poor-man's Dwight Howard-era Orlando Magic.

Burke = Nelson
Hayward = Hedo
Favors = Howard

....one things for sure! If SVG becomes head coach of the Jazz....at least we'll have a "head coach!"......and the post game interviews will rival the best in the league!

A few quotes from SVG which I found interesting (considering some think he could a HC candidate next year):

On Gordon's value:

""a little bit above the mid-level exception,"

That's just what I was thinking. I think I mentioned it in another thread. Hayward's value I put at 6 mil, 7 tops.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I mean I would be stoked if we got him for that. But that's ridiculous.

Does anyone NOT see Hayward getting Batum money?

I don't like equating salaries from the former CBA to the current one, but on the current open market Hayward definitely gets 10 - 11 for 4 years.

But in the RFA market, Hayward gets 12 since teams will have to overpay.

Hayward is definitely not worth 12 in the current CBA.

So Lindsey is faced with two choices: 1) matching 12 if he thinks that offer is forthcoming (and I fear he thinks this is acceptable); or dealing Hayward in advance of that offer (which I hope he thinks is the right choice)

Regardless of how he has been exposed this year, Hayward is a valuable player. But he makes a ton more sense at 12 on a team with an established star, much less sense on a team still looking for one.

The guy's too inconsistent. He's a better CJ Miles, ok? Which is fine for what he's getting paid now but I wouldn't want him for more than 7M. Let some other team overpay. or better yet, to echo BillyShelby's post, hopefully DL deals him.

What is with the Hayward love? I've never understood it. He has an awesome night once in a blue moon but most the time he's trying to find his confidence or in a slump or whatever, and Harpring's all "oh, he's so money and he doesn't even know it - he's just gotta get out of his slump he's still in but he's so good and bla bla bla I hate Harpring.

Have you seen Hayward's dreamy eyes?

Stan lives in an idealist world where only 10 players get max contracts from 30 NBA teams and you only get payed over 10 million if you are an All-Star, All-NBA Team, or All-Defensive Team member.

Wish I could live in the at world too, but it doesn't exist, especially not in Utah.

5. I heard Locke say that Gordon practices with friends in the off season and doesn't concentrate on shooting...his shooting percentage proves this.
Hayward needs to make new friends...playing ball with those Bailey's Moving and Storage clowns won't help improve his game.
