I'm at a loss as to why Marvin is still here, but it's hard to figure there was any great market for him or RJeff.
And by the way, any talk about Marvin needing to be kept so we can resign him is straight crazy. The guy will be lucky to get a 3 year deal on the open market, and I predict he'll sign a one year offer at less than the MLE. A multi-year deal for his services at virtually any number would be bidding against ourselves for a player that is easily replaceable.

Spencer Hawes, a player producing better than Marvin Williams, who's owed less money and is also expiring, netting ZERO first round draft picks.

The Jazz could still re-sign him if they traded him. Owning his Bird rights means nothing.
Additionally, re-signing him for nearly half the money after the best season of his life doesn't seem to hold much water. Also, him helping the team win now likely hurts the team substantially down the road.
Best season of his life? The best season of his Jazz career, but his career is longer than 2 years.
He has had a pretty average year as far as his career goes. I'm pretty confident if you put him in the same role next year (on or off the bench) he would produce the same types of numbers.

The excitement when you see that the young guys will finally get playing time after wasting years of development........ Than you remember Corbin is the coach and he always finds a way to do something that doesn't make sense or match up with the players talents in any way.
And we are back at seeing the potential of the team, but it being capped off by management who is afraid to take risks with development and Corbin aligns with that perfectly by worrying more about getting instant results rather than developing chemistry between the actual core players who are here for the long term.
You don't start a rebuild/development year with a person you are unsure about. Creates instability with the players. Because he is more worried about his job than the future of the team.
Frustrating as a basketball fan. And its a pretty known thing among anyone that isn't a casual fan.
But Management and Ownership runs the team like a scared puppy. I guess I don't know why I am surprised

Fair enough, but was there really not a giveaway for Marvin? Somebody's dead weight expiring in exchange for a second round pick? Even a future one? If there was absolutely no way to pawn him off, I understand.
As a secondary point, why not buy Marvin out like Orlando did with Big Baby. Now that the deadline has passed, let him sign somewhere else and protect the tank.
We all know the Jazz don't buyout contracts. Not even sure they bought out Big Baby for tank reasons, might have just been because of his attitude in the lockerroom. Not like Big Baby made them any better.
