Punch Bowl Re-Filler
Blaming Ty for the Jazz losing after blowing up the team mid-season is possibly the most illogical thing I've read here.
Where am I blaming him? I'm saying give him credit for making the playoffs. It was a difficult situation. But really, Harris and Favors came on board and replaced an injured Deron. I wouldn't call that "blowing up" the team. I doubt they would have made the playoffs, but a complete collapse shouldn't have happened. Ty had been an assistant for AGES under Sloan. He was preparing to be a head coach. There are a handful of other situations where a coach is fired, the assistant takes over and the team starts playing better. Didn't happen; Ty was unable to rally the team in what could have been a defining moment.
By all accounts, Corbin is a great assistant. The same thing happens in the NFL; there are amazing offensive and defensive coordinators who get a head coaching job and are overwhelmed. They get fired and go back to being coordinators and do a helluva job. Best of luck to Ty moving forward; I hope he gets on with another team as a #1 assistant. But he and his staff (Lowe and Sanders) really haven't made any kind of mark. You don't look at the Jazz and say, "wow, I really see some great defense being played," or "look at the efficient offense the Jazz are now playing."
