At one time this site was composed totally of civil people not wiseass jerks. Then it seemed when Deron joined the Jazz, people with his personality joined the site. Wiseasses who didn't know the meaning of the word respect and manners. I tried to put a halt to it because the mods seemed to let it get out of control and so I ended up getting in lots of fights with people because of this. When I read Batman's apologetic post, going out of his way to be friends with you and then you calling him a name, it brought me back to that time. Mostly, the site has been pretty civil since Deron and his gang left. I can take people giving me b.s. because it hasn't really been nasty like it used to be. But your attitude is like that and uncalled for.

No, not blaming it on him, at all. But when he joined the Jazz, a lot of people with an attitude came on the site. So, it was just coincident with him coming to the Jazz -- a lot of younger guys who followed him in college. They had the attitude, and you know Deron, who I didn't realize it at the time, had an attitude too, something that came out after he left the Jazz. But I always did like him as a player and don't think it was a good idea to trade him. But it was the Jazz's own fault for making him and Jerry unhappy by letting Matthews go. That was the beginning of the end, in my opinion.
In fact, that decision, which was viewed as a financial decision was a very bad decision, as we see now, looking back. The Jazz could've been competitive all of these recent years if they kept their core intact, and I am including AK in this because while he and Deron had their differences the first few years, they had come to terms with each other and I think we would've seen some more good years out of AK. But that whole scenario ruined things for Deron, AK, and caused Jerry to quit. Would never have happened if LHM hadn't passed away. In other words, I think LHM would've been savvy enough to see the value of Matthews. We could've kept the core of Matthews, AK, Deron, Sap, and Korver. Could've traded Boozer for a defensive big. But what can I say -- I wasn't the GM or owner (I was on here saying they need to keep Matthews and most everyone was saying, no we can't pay him that much -- well, now we see he would've been a bargain for what he provides). Like all these posters denigrate my knowledge about basketball. Hey, I've been watching the NBA since the days of Bob Cousy and played in leagues all my life. Can you believe, I went to the same high school as Pat Riley -- he was older though, the same college at the same time as Bob Lanier, and I was in grad school when Horny played at Iowa State. I worked for the Daily there and did some articles on the basketball team. I know a thing or two.
