This is what Utah’s announcers, and presumably Utah fans, call members of the team — and even ex-members. As in: “Paul Millsap, a former Jazz man, is having a big game against his old team!” I like it! It has a pleasing pop culture referent, and it’s a nice way of making up for the fact that a human player can’t be “a Jazz” in the way he could be “a Celtic” or “a Knick.” I’ve seen the Magic toss around “Magic Man” like this, and that hasn’t tickled me in the same way. What are the Thunder supposed to do?

The strange thing is I remember the 'Jazzman' being used when I started to follow the Jazz in the late 1980's. I wonder how he could have missed it for this long.
 
Did Zach Lowe not get the memo you are only allowed to bitch and complain about anything Boler or Harpring say?
 
The only thing I find offensive is that a lot of ex "Jazz Men"' seem to have big nights against their former team. I want to start hearing these players tell the media they HATE playing against Utah because the Jazz are so good and always battle them physically. That was the characteristic of the Sloan era: almost every team disliked coming to Utah and getting pounded on for 48 minutes.
 
How does he feel about "fry sauce", "Houdini", "buckle up", "signage" , "Jazz Nation" Boler saying "Cut me Mick" every time a player bleeds or "Burk Brothers" even though their names are spelled and pronounced differently or Ron Boone saying "oh my" as if it passes for acceptable color commentation or anything Steve Brown has uttered at anytime during any game.

You forgot "T & A" or "hammering down a 3 pointer" as other common color commentator expressions only found in Utah.

LOL - IIRC a little "T & A" made a very, very brief appearance in the Harpring Lexicon and then mysteriously disappeared. The first time I heard it I did a double take. I think I heard a couple more times and then never again.

I wonder if someone told him what it really stands for?

Maybe you guys should just take a break from watching the jazz.
Or you could turn down the volume and broadcast games yourselves. Y'all sound like professionals.
