Following potential 2014 draftees

I've been completely sold on Gordon for some time. Drafting him #4 and on would be fine by me.

He'll defend 4 positions, rebound, he can score, create his own shot, high character guy...low risk, high reward guy. He will be a great pro.

I think he would contribute immediately to a fast break team (rockets, lakers, warriors) or to a team with a young star. I'm not sure if there are more than 2-3 players faster than him in the entire league.

I doubt he will be ready to run any half court sets for a few years. He's a project, no doubt.

Yeah, but in the NBA teams have players that can play better D, have more offensive skills, and play in transition. He wouldn't get much playing time at all before a significant period of development.

His jump shot doesn't look awful either. The exciting that his shot looks fixable, might never be, but there is hope he will eventually become a more complete offensive player.

And his game dropped significantly in conference play. That is a big red-flag that the player gets overwhelmed by competition.

I would say Marvin was a more consistent contributor though, and his body was obviously more NBA ready. Atlanta kind of regrets taht pick though.

Backtracking, how typical. Yeah but yeah but yeah but....

LOL.

The point is, Marvin wasn't a starter and contributed immediately to the NBA. True, it's probably more of the exception than the rule. But it sort of blows up your point that a player who doesn't start in college won't contribute immediately to the NBA.

Lastly, there are literally only 2-3 players (David Lee, cp3, d will)that Atlanta probably wishes they had taken instead of Marvin. Altogether, he wasn't that bad of a pick.

A lot of it has to do with the physique more than anything with Lavine. I just don't see him playing much at that size. Not sure they even feel confident enough in his ball handling ability and decision making to play backup point.
