Honestly there almost the same player. Griffin is a bigger and stronger version. Gordon is a better defender.

I laugh when people are disappointed with this draft. To me it's as good as advertised so long as the main guys come out.

The defense difference is huge. It more than makes up for the 1" difference. Gordon is an elite elite defender. He could easily defend NBA 3. His handles are decent, and he can pass. In all honesty, he has more potential as an NBA 3 if he can get consistent with his shot--especially when you consider how he is not a post player. He's a posterizer.

No worse than even Malone..

I would take Gordon over Exum without even thinking. Now that's elite quickness and speed which will translate in NBA without problems! And his ball handling and dribble is way more impressive then Exum's as well.

That's the whole quote.

That's my point. Either you have never seen Malone play or you included him by mistake. He was elite defender at his position. And Kanter brings defensive ineptitude to the whole different level even compared to Boozer or Griffin.

I saw plenty of Malone. Malone was really good at positional defense. He was not a shot blocker, which is what everyone acts like kanter should be. When Malone got burned he'd foul hard. That's what people need to learn to expect from Kanter. It also didn't hurt Malone that he played w/ other excellent defenders like Stockton, Eaton, etc. My point with that whole list was if you surround a non shot blocking big w/ good defenders, you don't notice their shortcomings as long as they are getting into positions. As of late, Kanter has been getting into his positions.

And Kanter is really bad at that. Heck everybody is scoring on Kanter at will. Again, look at 82games.com and his own production vs his opponent production - he is worst in the league!

He is a young player. You need to look at young players incrementally in like 10 game stretches to see where they are going. Kanter's positions as of late have been fine.

They could be better, but the sky is no longer falling.

Our team defense sucks.

Embiid is much more polished offensively than Oden. And stress fracture of one vertebra which does not require surgery is nowhere near as dangerous as knee problems Oden had. Yes the risk is there but is not as bad.

As someone who played high school sports and had a stress fracture on my L5 my senior year (including multiple problems w/ my L5 S1 disc) my life has never been the same from that day forward.

There's a chance every player can "end up like Oden".

I just refer to Oden because he's the only center I can think of in recent history with as much hype.

I like Embiid, I really do. As a GM, I just don't take the risk on a center with a bad back or knees with the #3 pick, especially in this draft.

I say stay way from players with any known serious back, knee, foot, or mental problems. Surely we've learned our lesson with Luther Wright and Curtis Borchardt?
