Can Marcus Smart and Dante Exum play shooting guard?

both are combo guards, so yes. if we draft them, Trey will still be our point.

Exum would eventually replace hayward, and become our play making wing IMO. he can run our 2nd unit too, but i would rather make him to be our starting 2 guard. by then trey should really become a legit floor general(well, i hope so). one thing we don't need is draft exum and make him compete for PG job with trey. we don't need that. exum is versatile enough to be a very good 2 guard and still avg 6 assist.

Smart will immediately step in and be a nagging defender against 2 guards immediately. he would be eventually become our go to scorer.

Couple thoughts -- I don't think Randle is taller than Poythress, it's likely the other way around. Just based on the eye test Randle looks to be about Lebron's size, or perhaps less than an inch bigger. The good news is that Randle has quickness and toughness, so there's potential to create space and develop a running hook shot. It's just too bad he doesn't have more explosiveness and hops to go around or over defenders.

Also, if Nerlens Noel cut his Michael Bivens fade, I think people would realize he's about 6'9", a bit shorter than Anthony Davis.

Randle is about a half to 3/4 inch taller than Poy. Just based on my eyeball test in person and from spending about 4 hours only a few feet from them.
Willie is a legit 7', imo.

(here come the jokes..)

Everyone give a cheer for those Knicks! Stupid GS loses. If Memphis goes on a run GS will be a lottery team. Last 10 and both Memphis and GS are 6-4 and Phoenix was 7-3.

Sacramento
Utah
Denver

44-30 Phoenix remaining games:

those hoop summit measurements were dead on what Schroder was measured in at the Combine btw, so i tend to believe 6'9" in shoes is legit.

Brook Lopez shot under 50% both years in college and 53% as a rookie, not sure what that means but i just dont like using FG% as an indicator of things to come. Michael Beasley was 53% in college and never over 50% in the pro's

also theres a few guys logging decent minutes at C this year in the NBA who arent all that much bigger than Julius (Kris Humphries, Jared Sullinger, JJ Hickson)

Chuck Hayes predraft #'s were 6'5½" w/o shoes, 6'7¾" in shoes, 6'10 wingspan, 232 lbs and 8'8 standing reach and hes played almost 10 years now, mostly at C

i really dont think his size will be much of an issue tbh, if he didnt have great hands id be a bit more concerned

Okay. According to DX, Carmelo, Millsap and Randle have the same standing reach, 8'9.5". Players like Lebron James, Patrick Patterson and Derrick Williams have slightly longer standing reach. It wouldn't surprise me if Randle measures about 6' 8.5" or 6' 8.75" in shoes. Will see. Alex Poythress is listing at 6'9".

Wingspan:

Blake Griffin 6'11.25
Kevin Love 6'11.25

Your point is?

This has been discussed before.

Griffin and Love, while having shorter than ideal wingspans for a post player, have elite skills.

Griffin is a great athlete for his position, and it shows in his game. Love is a great shooter, has great post moves, and uses fundamentals more than he uses his size.

They use those elite skills to make up for their lack of size. Exactly what elite skills does Julius Randle have that will make up for his lack of size?

So, exactly what was your point again?

I don't think Randle will bust like Derrick Williams. Randle has much better motor, toughness and feel for the game. But I think their physical tools are going to look similar. Randle needs a mid-range jumper more than he needs right-hand post moves.

Anyone have stats on what Randle's percentages are on jumpers?

LOL!

Love the Gordon homers grasping at straws trying to diminish Randle's game. They ignore his FT shooting, zero offensive game, and tweenerness while focusing on randle's weaknesses.

Had Gordon led his team in scoring (16 pts) last game im sure we never would have heard the end of it.

True, he doesn't have Duncan's polished game with 4 years of college. He's a freshmen but apparently he should have a polished game according to some of his critics. So obviously Randle sucks. Obviously.

Dude is a beast. And he's still incredibly young. He kicks ***, something we desperately need on this team of softies.

I say draft Randle and use the second pick we have to draft Michigan's Peja Stojavich.

Next year start from day 1 favors and Randle. Have them work the P&R game and high low stuff. Stick Randle on the box and have him pass to cutters/beat down his man down low.

Have Peja, Burks, and Burke run the P&R. Have Peja bomb away from 3

You truly have the worst reading comprehension, and make the worst comparisons of anybody on this board.

The only thing Stauskas and Stojakovic have in common is that they're white and can shoot 3's.

* Stojakovic

I'm not an Aaron Gordon homer, far from it. The Jazz have always made PFs look good in the pick-and-roll, and they could do the same with Randle. Randle will be better than Boozer given his quickness, his motor and the fact that he plays defense. For me personally, I just which he was a little longer, was a little more explosive vertically or had developed a jumper a bit more. He's going to need the jumper to be effective in the NBA. He can't just ram his way into the paint like he does in college.

The thing I like about Randle is worst case scenario he's a nice player. You can already see he would belong on an NBA court from day 1 if not be dominant. Safe pick but still high upside.

He'll develop a jumper. Gordon can't shoot either and shoots a horrific percentage from the FT line.

At least Randle has a post game. He ain't no tweener. Gordon is more like a hyped up Hakeem Warrick.

Many on this board have had way too much Gordon Kool-aid. And I seriously LOL when I hear AK47 comparisons. As if that would be a good thing?! LOL! I remember all those games where defenders would complete forget about AK and help out on other players.

Do we really want that again?

LOL. Wah wah.

Randle belongs in the league. Worst case? He's a double double post player. Best case? He's one of the most dominate posts in the league.

Gordon can dunk real good but he doesn't have a role in he nba until he actually develops a game. Blake Griffin had about 30 lbs, a jumper, and a post game on Gordon.

its probably a loaded question and i don't mean it that way but

How does Nik Stauskas compare with the Alaskan Assassin, Trajan Langdon?
