Vonleh reminds me a lot of Chris Bosh. I don't love Chris Bosh. If we got Chris Bosh out of the draft I would be happy enough. But, Gordon (who I have watched a lot) reminds me a lot of Blake Griffin. He is WAY better defensively and led his team to be one of the best defensive teams in NCAA. He can't score with a jumper for the life of him, but he can use his athleticism to score plenty. Marion is not the best comparison. Griffin isn't either. But somewhere in between is likely. Is he the right player either? I don't know but Vonleh is definitely lower on my list.

We need a true 3. Wiggins and Parker both fit the role the best this year. We are due some luck after falling in lottery situations year after year. See... coin toss against Golden State pick... see getting 6th pick and having to trade up to get Deron Williams... I think that we are around 20% on coin toss situations! It's our time!

I hope we stay away from Randle. He is not super athletic, doesn't have the power or mobility of a high caliber NBA PF, (no way he can play SF in the NBA). And he gets OWNED on defense. He couldn't guard players in college. I think he may be a Boozer type on defense.

Randle = Millsap

Possibly but A: millsap was an all star and fine player.

And B: i dont recall millsap being a top ten pick as a freshman out of college and taking his team to a national championship game.

Pick the one with the best defense, which would be Gordon, and give him a year or two to develop with a good coach. Dude is still 18 and will come up for his contract extension at 21. He can be developed into whatever we need because he is decidedly not a bonehead. I'm pretty excited because I figure that Gordon is the worst that we come up with at this point and that is a good place to be.
Be warned however that Karma says that Smart will end up the best player of the draft and half the posters here will claim retroactively that they wanted him. "I knew Embiid was a bum and really wanted Smart. Dennis must be fired!"

Randle = Millsap

Isn't Randle bigger than Milsap? Wasn't the knock on Milsap always his tweener size? If you couldn't make Milsap a 3, there is no way Randle is going to be a 3. Milsap even had more 3 type skills. . .

I should save all me "I really like Smart" posts now to guard against this. Thanks for the heads up!

ya'll probably know me by now. all depends on the predraft work out / measurement results.

i slightly favor Gordon over Randle at the moment.

but I'm hoping for Randle to be a workout warrior and full 6ft 8+ barefoot if that happens i'll probably switch my stance.

millsap was only 6ft 6 1/4, but he had huge wingspan 7ft 1 1/2. and he was very meaty when he came in to the league near 260lb.
randle definitely has a bigger frame body wise. but his wingspan is concerning. some dudes here are saying he only has 6ft 11 wingspan. didn't somebody call him an trex arm? 6ft 11 wingspan is a normal wingspan for somebody who is 6ft 6. and many 6ft 6 guys in the NBA has 6ft 11+ wingspan like milsap.

randle is not a tweener. regardless how big or tall he is, he is 4. that's not gonna change IMO. let's all hope he comes in big. i hate the idea of picking an undersized 4. we don't need that.

I'd take a long look at Vonleh vs Randle. If Vonleh can really play and score out on the floor, I might go that direction.

With Aaron Gordon, it depends on his feel for the game offensively, but there are a lot of skills missing right now.
