Is he a 3 or a 4 in the NBA?

Doesn't matter as long as he can defend both which is the 2nd biggest need for the Jazz only following a new competent coach. I would lean towards making him a 3 and Sexual Favors does an excellent job explaining why. It's better to be an slightly oversized 3 than a slightly undersized 4. Really the ultimate goal would be for him to assume a "LeBron James" type defensives role defending the other teams best player from the 1 to the 4 at crunch time.

you gotta love his motor and willingness to play D.

if he is who i think he is, he can guard 2 to 4. but he will guard 3 mostly. he would be our lebron neutralizer(think big picture!) nba is getting smaller, and versatility is important. i want a guy who can be able to guard KD one night and guard james harden the next.

remember this kid is young. he is a baby. he will fill out and get stronger.

he hasn't even reached his athletic prime yet.

If he can be a 3, then it would be a good pick. But it also depends on whatever system and personnel the Jazz decide to utilize, and by extension, who will be the head coach. I love Gordon's defense. And his shooting %'s aren't that bad - other than FT's. Put him in the starting lineup and you better have some other scorers, though. You could probably go either way with Gordon. The starting five could be Kanter, Favors, Gordon, Hayward and Burke, or you could go smaller with Gordon at PF and Favors, Hayward, Burks and Burke. That leaves either Burks or Kanter coming off the bench as scorers. I'd probably lean towards Burks initially.

Kind of scared Utah won't draft him because of our offensive concerns, but if we just extend Kanter out to the 3pt line, it would be less of a floor spacing concern.

True, defense wins championships but good offense puts you in a position to win that championship. We can't ignore half of the game.

This Jazz team didn't play any defense last year. In my opinion, that can be attributed to Corbin's bad scheme more than bad defensive players. Our offense? I'm not so sure it's the same way. We need a clear cut go to man. Hayward tries, and sucks at that. Trey has the mentality. But he can't be it.

We are in need of a Michael Jordan just as much as we are in need of a Scottie Pippen.

IMO, if we can find a go to offensive player, you take that over that nice glue guy who plays great defense.

I don't think a lot of people are saying to pick Gordon top 3. If you get a chance at Wiggins or Parker, you take it. I think you have to take Embiid if he is there as well. Other than that you have Smart and Exum who have just as big, if not bigger question marks. Gordon has an elite NBA skill in his defense at only 18. Do Smart and Exum have an elite NBA skill other than potential? Gordon is the safest pick outside of the top 3, and the Jazz just can't afford to screw up a top 5 pick.

Next years lineup could be

Favors - can run
Kanter - can run
A. gordon - can run
Hayward - can run
Burke - has vowed to get faster so he can run

Bench:

Neto - can run
Burks - can run
Evabs - can run

Etc.

Favors incentive will be to slow down for burke
Kanter - incentive will be to slow down for burke
Parker - can't run
Hayward - no one is running so he is frustrated and shooting poorly.
Burke - incentive will be to slow down for parker
