What's new

So... when's the coin toss?

Its not a coin flip anymore its a random drawing now. I trust Spencer Checketts who said after the game tonight that they do the random drawing after the lottery, but I actually think that it is beforehand because the do the random drawing to see who slots 4 and who slots 5 in the case where neither moves up to the top three. Plus I think the odds are not even so the winner of the random drawing I believe gets one more ball as well.

Ultimately it was a stupid win, and if Burkes 3 doesn't go down against Orlando we are alone in 3rd. Right now I just expect to be #5 or #6 and to miss out on the player we need and the whole tank will be frustrated.

So pretty much a coin toss?

**** man, even after that GSW coin toss shenanigan, you'd think KOC would have learnt from that and took action to avoid the same situation happening?

Sometimes it makes me wonder what those guys sit around and do all day.

I am expecting nothing but bad news.
baaad news!
Celtics will rise again! (thanks to some idiots on Jazz roster)

Friday.

A drawing to determine drafting order between 4-5 Jazz and Celtics (in case they don't win lottery) will take place Friday, according to SI.

From NBA.com on Twitter...Let's clear up myth; draft tiebreaks are done via random drawings, NOT a coin flip; those drawings will be tomorrow afternoon

Don't they need drafting order and lottery odds order? Won't one team have slightly better odds to move up?

It's the same. Whoever wins the coin flip (or pulls the right card or however it's done) both gets the slightly higher lottery odds (which is fairly insignificant) as well as the higher draft order in the event neither team moves to the lottery (which could be very significant, though there's a decent chance that either Utah or Boston will move into the top 3.)

For the purpose of the lottery the jazz and celtics will have the same number of ping pong balls (odds for 4+5 divided by 2) if that number is odd they flip a coin to see who gets the extra ball. If neither team gets a top three pick the drawing then determins who gets four and who gets five so the drawing doesn't really change our chance of getting a top 3 pick just what happens if we don't win.
