What's new

Last draft I was down on Shabazz

A lot of people were down on Shabazz? What's the point?

Also seeing your prospect post on RealGM doesn't inspire confidence. From what I've seen, you're down on everybody, which is the easiest way to get it right on this type of debate...say they'll all exceed expectations or come up well short.

He won't be a bust if he's allowed to play the Small Forward position (his natural position). His strength lies in abusing the opposing team's wing, with the ball in his hand creating for others, and slashing with a 2-3 step run up to the hoop.

But I suspect most coaches won't have the foresight to do that. He's too undersized to play the PF position in the NBA and he's not a good enough shooter to play the stretch 4.

You think he has quickness to guard the three?

Ok, I'll pick a gem as well...

nbadraft.net has Jusuf Nurkic @ #38. I like him quite a bit, I think he'll be a starter, a quality starter, in the league. If he's there with the GS pick I wouldn't hesitate to pick him.

The more reliable DX has him at 11. They overate internationals, but he'll go much closer to 11 than 38.

Also doesn't help the cause when you choose a player at a low position where other sites have him at a better position. So a player at #11 to be a quality starter. Like Paul George, Gordon Hayward?

Can you pick a top 10 projected draft pick that will be a multiple year all star?

I only take Wiggins and a healthy Embiid ahead of Randle, but wouldn't even be a little surprised if he were better than both of them. Randle is a beast. I'm the guy the O.P. created this thread for. I hated Shabazz last year, but it's because he sucked. Randle was the best frosh in the country this last year and should be even better in the league as he will be able to play without seeing double teams 90% of the time he touches the rock and getting away from some of the most selfish guard play I've seen in years.

Oh, and Randle's a 4. Several on JF are down on him a bit and I've decided it's because everybody wants him to be a 3. Sorry, he's a 4 and he's a beast.

I'm mixed on Randle. He's got a lot of natural ability, but he's going to have to develop his game a lot more from where it is now. He needs the mid-range jumper, so players bite on his fakes and he can drive. His quickness is good for his size though. I still see him as a rich man's Millsap, but remember it took Paul 3 or 4 years to become a player who could really play out on the floor, rather than a back-up PF. Randle has to become a guy who can drill jumpers out to 20+ feet.

I don't think you can run the offense through Randle, and I think Kanter has just as much upside due to his size and shooting touch, although Randle is quicker and more explosive. Agree that he's probably a back-up on the Jazz, but it's a bit hard to say.

I'd take Exum, Parker and possibly Vonleh ahead of Randle. You might even convince me to take Gordon if he shows solid progress in developing offensive abilities.

I think Parker and Embiid stood out as better freshmen than Randle.

You're seriously mistaken if you think there's anyone other than Hotttnickkk who thinks Randle is a SF.

I think it's too much effort for a guy that size to chase wing players out on the perimeter all game. He'll wear down. You can only experiment with Randle for spot minutes at the SF.

It's sad that outsiders actually take what KKK says as majority opinion.

Can we put a "Town Drunk" label on all of KKK's post just so outsiders know.

Randle is a 4, for now, but there is overwhelming evidence he will thrive at the 3 at the next level.
