What's new

rockets- Harden prime example why I'm worried about Parker.

Ettore Messina says that anyone can play defense because defense is a team concept. All a player needs to do is keep his opponent in front of him for one or two dribbles to allow for the team to recognize and adjust.

Since I am now firmly seated on the Messina bandwagon it must be true.

I was not quite through the door, but I've now deposited my coins and have taken a seat. Amazing to hear a coach say he practices basic fundamentals AGAIN and AGAIN. This is EXACTLY what the young Jazz team needs!

We want Messina! Git 'er done, Dennis.

I think the number 1 reason the rockets are down 2-0 is aldridge straight killin it and being the best player in the playoffs so far.

#2 reason is hardens poor shooting/scoring.

#3 reason is the hack a howard being so effective when the rockets were up 11 with 4 minutes to go in game 1.

#4 parsons has not shown up.

#5 maybe hardens defense would go here.

Last night i did see matthews post up harden like 4 times and get zero pts.

Now i agree that he is a bad defender and of course it would be great if he played great defense but im pretty sure that before this season started (and probably even now) all of us would trade any jazz player or combo of jazz players for harden in a heartbeat.

I will not be upset if we draft jabari and he turns out to be as good as harden..... there are lots worse things that could happen to the jazz imo

If harden has his normal offense on the two games so far, the rockets would be up 2-0.

imo his defense has not been the problem..... its been his horrible offense that has been the problem.

Dont think harden has been guarding aldridge much so far this series.

he feasts on lazy regular season games. but so far in his brief playoff career, he's been choking major time. things are little tougher in the playoffs especially when you don't have post up game.

yup. aldridge straight up beasting. no one saw this coming. i figured against so-so rocket's defense aldridge will put up 27/11 type of game. but back to back 40 while shooting high %? didn't see it coming.

rockets are not making their jumpers now. they live and die by shooting jumpers and they can't make a bucket. but if they get hot again, things will get interesting. let's see how they perform in game 3.

Aldridge just might have been the league's most underrated player. That will change now.

yup. and he has some tim duncan in him in his personality and he doesn't play for major cities, so casual fans don't even really know much about him.

Thats one of the things i like about him.

His demeanot is awesome.

Only time i saw him flexin and yellin was after a power dunk

I would have called Aldridge one of the most overrated players before this series, hard to say that now though.

Havent watched any playoffs so far, but Aldridge has historically been a jump shooter, which I hate because he has elite size and length. He might just be hot right now and be in for a Dirk-like playoff run when the Mavs won.

This is true imo.
Most of his points have come on tough mid range jumpers..... i expect his numbers to come back down to earth alot.
I cant see him keeping this up.

His offense is starting with the threat of the mid-range jumper on the low-left block. But he's using that to get to the paint on fakes, plus he's been active on the offensive glass (10 over two games). Basically, he's dominating. But, yeah, it's starting with the mid-range stuff.

go here for his shot chart: https://nba.si.com/2014/04/23/blazers-rockets-game-2-lamarcus-aldridge-dwight-howard/

working late? can't call yourself a fan if you don't watch nba playoff games intentionally!

word. and i love his interview too. alot of humble pie when he speaks. i hate texas longhorns, but i love that kid.

A lot of my buddies are big portland fans, LA is a beast and an overall great guy. Really happy to see him play this way and take it to a team that I really really dont like

Parker in college had some serious problems on defense.

If anybody watched the game between the blazers and rockets or any rockets game you will know by know that Harden is an absolutely terrible defender.

im seriously worried about how he will be on defense vs opponents that are much faster and agile.

can he score? yes.

will he ever be a championship player? not sure.
again if a coach can fit jefferson in a defensive scheme. they dammw ell can turn harden and parker in defensive scheme.

it is albout a scheme.

coaches are underrated

Jabari has no faults, except for his hair, and is the second coming. Disagree with me again, and you will have bad sex for the next 7 years.

If Jabari can score at a good pace with good efficiency while getting to the line...

If that.

I don't care if he's a bad defender. I think the Jazz have enough need for the first part that they can live with the second.

Nope, just have more important things to do then watch the 1st round of the playoffs. I'll probably tune in to a game 7, or when the 2nd round starts.

Holy ****...Harden looks like he's out there playing with a tuxedo on. For real.
