What's new

would u pay mike dunleavy 10-12 per year?

so why would u pay hayward that amt?

hayward = dunleavy

Prove it.

I can show that the two are not terribly comparable when you look at their respective fourth year in the league. Hayward's production was much better and is two years younger than Dunleavy during their fourth year in the league.

Dunleavy has played in 11 playoff games. 5 of those when he was the "team leader", a 1-4 round one loss.

Those years he was " the man" with his high priced contract, he led his team to an average of 35 wins per season and 1 playoff experience. He was on the Warriors when they fired Montgomery. On the pacers when they fired Carlise and when they fired Obrian.

So Hayward with one playoff appearance and two coaches notched on his gun is very similar to Dunleavy. All he needs now is the bloated contract and to get traded 6 months after signing it.

Check out the "Similarity Scores" at Basketball Reference, specifically the 2nd highest one for Hayward:

LOL

Paths to that score are different. If you look at their fourth year in the league, it's noticeably different. Through 4 years overall, they have similar numbers, so that signifies Dunleavy kept an even rating, while Hayward started behind and leaped ahead this year. Hayward shot better in his fourth year than Dunleavy did his while maintaining a much higher user rate. Hayward also had a much higher assist percentage. Hayward had in his fourth year that Dunleavy didn't match until his sixth year and only exceeding again in his 10th year.
