Aaron Gordon vs. Marcus Smart

The draft is tomorrow and Embiid, Parker, Wiggins, and Exum are all gone by #5. Jazz are rumored to be down to two players, Gordon and Smart. Who would you want them to take?

Smart would play the one or two, two-point guard line-ups are becoming popular. Gives you a ton of options between Burke, Burks, Smart.

Gordon would play the three, would have a lot of potential line-ups. Gives you wiggle room especially with Hayward due for a new contract.

I actually think he'd be a good fit. A big guard who can play both positions and provide toughness, leadership and can play right out of the gate. I just get the feeling for the last year that the Jazz have never been as high on him as other teams were. I think the wildcard for them is actually Aaron Gordon.

They're both in the same tier for me right now, but Gordon's upside is better and fits a position of need. Smart's defense would be nice, but could he and Trey be a dynamic duo on the offensive end? At the end of the day, the problem with either player is the Jazz will need to start finding shooters keep defenses honest.

I'd go with Gordon as I think Smart is lacking in the BBIQ department.

I totally see Aaron Gordon being this tweener, freak athlete, that isn't a great shooter, but having an insane work ethic and out hustles everyone on the court developing in the small forward version of Russell Westbrook. Westbrook dropped in his draft because no one really knew what position he played and if he could ever shoot, and it could be argued he is the top 2 or 3 players in the 2008 draft and he was insane athletically.

It seems Gordon competitive fire is a more big bonus, his Arizona team made deep tournament run and had a very good regular season record because Gordon is a total team player and helps do all the little things to win a basketball game even if he is the most talented on his team, Gordon is more about team and getting W's, and doing whatever it takes to do so. I don't want some player like Smart, who is a head case and seems more about himself and not the team, plus undersized for the position we would want to play him in, we don't need another Millsap, too small, inches matter in this game, I see all the Dwyane Wade comparisons, Wade measured out to be 6'4" predraft, Smart 6'2", no thanks, I could care less how much they hustle. Being too short by two inches is a BIG deal in the NBA, just think if Millsap was 2 inches taller, he would be starting power forward material from day one in this league and be worth more money and worth more to a franchise.
