Official 2014 draft prediction thread with rep bets

I'll throw some more on here....

* I'll bet Zach Lavine, James Young and Doug McDermott all go in the lottery. Not a big reach there.

* I'll bet Nurkic goes Top 15.

* I'll bet they don't have Shane Battier doing stupid 'Welcome to the NBA interviews' this year.

Yeah I think this is the more likely scenario.

I don't think ORL is in love with Exum now that they have Oladipo, after experimenting with Oladipo at the point last year, I do think they need a REAL Point Guard...

I actually do think they'll go down that Vonleh & Ennis more than the Smart & Young route too, but we'll see.

Ennis
Oladipo
Afflalo
Vonleh
Vucevic

That's a nice young core to work off of, IMO.

The top of the draft is normally where you pick elite PFs. Vonleh or Randle at 4 with Ennis or Payton at 12 is probably a better move for them, unless they see Exum on a higher tier (which they might).

The same logic might apply with the Sixers, who have #3 and #10. They'll be tempted to go big at #3 (and take one of the top 3 players) and draft a wing at #10.

This is what makes it possible for Exum to be there for the Jazz at #5. Basically, Parker and Vonleh would go 3 and 4.

This would be a nice outcome for the Jazz, btw. It's not certain that Vonleh will be better than Kanter, though he has more defensive potential and he's another good asset.

Also the reason I think Vonleh/Randle & Ennis is more likely is because I think Oladipo does a lot of what Smart does in terms of rugged defense, etc. They now need someone who facilitates and hit open 3's and I think Ennis is a better fit for them there.

Also if Jacque Vaughn (who's from the Popovic tree) has any say in the matter, I think they'll go the Ennis route. Ennis reminds me of a young Tony Parker, deceptively quick and athletic, facilitates, heady all round PG.

I'll make another prediction ---

The Jazz will try pretty hard (offer #23, #35 and/or maybe GSW '17) to get back into the draft in the 10 - 15 range to draft a shooter--James Young, Nic Stauskas, Gary Harris, Rodney Hood, Doug McDermott.

I wouldn't compare Ennis to Parker, like at all.

already changing your tune...

It's only changed from I think we will trade up to we probably won't.

I haven't changed my tune on whether or not we should trade up. Or if the Jazz will try to. I think the Jazz will try hard to.. I still say sell the farm to go get Jabari. I still say Jabari is a beast.

Not much has changed except your tune about Jabari.

Good post.
And that lineup you posted earlier for the magic looks pretty sweet
