Chat with Chad Ford (some interesting answers)

Ford will throw enough crap at the wall that something will end up sticking through sheer quantity of crap. As you would imagine, he's then proclaimed a genius.

When I throw crap at the wall it usually sticks the first time. But then again, Chad Ford lives in my ***, apparently.

Yes - one of the top-3 guys would be awesome but I think the top-3 teams are going to want too much for their pick. And DL and KOC aren't stupid (they don't wear super loose belts) - they're not going to reach when we have a chance to draft a potential star at 5.

If we get the #1 pick, we would almost have to trade Favors. If that's the case, we would be targeting Embiid.

A starting lineup of Parker, Burke, Kanter and Burks would be ridiculously bad. Like astronomically bad. They would surrender 130 every night. On the other hand, Embiid might be good enough defensively to actually make Kanter useful.

Pretty sure any team that only has 4 players in the starting lineup would be pretty bad...

If we orchestrated a trade to the #1 and didn't take Embiid we would deserve to be also-rans for years to come.

It would be funny to read a book of Chad Ford quotes back when Darko was a draft prospect. Ford nearly singlehandedly got Darko drafted #2 overall and, iirc, was even touting him above LeBron at one point.

You realize that Ford is usually just repeating what NBA Exec's and scouts have told him.

Which is really, really, really dumb. Especially since he's not a free agent until July 1st and it puts the Jazz (and any other teams interested in Hayward) in an absolutely pointless bind.
I kind of agree. I think restricted rights ARE an asset and you should be able to trade that. Sure, it's a risk for the acquiring team, but they would have the right to match any offer. And the player can still sign an offer sheet with whatever team he wants.
