let me tell ask you this do you respect my opinion?
my opinion being: that marriage is about the creating a family by conception of live. and since 2 same sex people. so far never ever ever ever ever like 0.0000000000000000000% have 2 same sex persons created live. therefore they can conceive live which means they don't need marriage.

because i respect your opinion
assuming it is something like this:
mariage is a promise that 2 people make to eachother, to spent their live together whether or not creating a family (by natural conception or adoption or whatever). and get beneficial rights/benefits(tax/healthinsurance etc etc).

and i respect that you see mariage as that. i just dont.
and i wont be protesting against gay mariage etc etc.

in short:
ME: procreation is the sole purpose of mariage

YOU: mariage is bond in which a man and a woman come together to create a relationship

Do I respect your opinion? Sure. You don't need to keep reiterating your stance because I understand it completely. The fact of the matter is that gay marriage does not affect you personally in any way. You can decide to get married to some local Dutch woman with thick ankles and treat your marriage and your wife with the utmost respect, honor and love. You've been able to do this even when gay marriage was not a possibility but there were countless folks, cheating on each other, killing their spouses, abusing their spouses, getting divorces, etc. Those other relationships had about as much affect on your relationship as gay marriage does.

Butch, the only reason I am wary of your position is because many if not most of the arguments you use are the same arguments that were used during the racist times of this country.

You can have your own thoughts, any number you want. What you can't do (well, you can, but not necessarily without repercussions) is express them all vocally.

Do you really mean to suggest that a public figure should be able to say whatever he/she wants in the public square without any repercussions at all? Clearly there's a line somewhere, but where that line exists, who knows? I wonder where you'd draw it?

I guess if a man has a health-problem that renders his sperm-production as close to zero, then he should be prohibited from marrying any woman.

I guess if a man is partially disabled, then he shouldn't be "procreating" because these genes can be passed onto the gene pool and negatively impact the human race. We only want people marrying to have kids, and we want those kids to have more kids. So if we have kids that can't have kids, those kids are useless!!!

interracial marriage on the other hand is allowed because male from race a and female from race b can conceive live :P.
interspecies mariage ios not allowed. well except between tigers and lions cus they get awesome LIGERS!

maybe. but we should respect a mans privacy and assume every mans sperm works. as every woman's eggs work. because most of the time they do. we dont need to invade their medical privacy and such ;)
