There is absolutely no doubt that the jazz need better individual defenders. None.

I agree that team schemes are most important, but, yeah.... we suck for multiple reasons, not just schematics.

They also need shooters.

I hope we can draft somewhere in the late lottery or mid teens this year. I know the Jazz don't want anymore youth but there could be some gems there.

My wish list for the draft if is

1. Move up for Jabari or Wiggins.

2. Draft Gordon, Exum, or Smart

3. Move up into the late lottery and select one or more of the following
TJ Warren
McDermott
Stauskas
Lavine

If we do move down, I'm game for Dougie Mcbuckets.

I have said this before and I am saying it again. draft Gordon at 5 then move up to draft McDermott. Gordon can defend sfs. McDermott can shoot.
The only problem is that we're not playing football. You can't switch each time you go down the court. Besides, to trade into the top 10-12 to get McDermott is going to require a player and the #23. Is he worth Burks or Kanter?

The problem the Jazz have had for a LONG time is too many one-dimensional players (Boozer, Memo, AK, Brewer, Kanter, Favors). It's one of the reasons I'd be scared to death of taking Parker. To me, there is a clear top-3 in this draft: Embiid, Wiggins and Vonleh. Those are the three players most likely to be impact players on both ends of the court. Parker is going to be Carmelo without the attitude. Exum, Gordon and Smart have questionable shots. Gordon would be my second choice at #5, though. He's at least a great player defensively and would bring some fire.

I like McDaniels, but man, his shot is ugly. Elbows out wide, and he hurries his shot at the end. If he could become a descent shooter, he would be awesome.

I definitely think McDaniels is more of a project than some are making him out to be, at 6'6 196lbs he just doesn't have the same appeal as when he first hit the scene, IMO.

I do not have the link, but Hoopshype has Orlando bringing in Smart for a second look. If it is not a smoke screen that could be big for us.

You're right, it could be a smoke screen. They might believe that a couple of teams behind them covet Smart.

You are crazy bro.

No way Vonleh should be put ahead of Parker

I somehow envisioned today looking at the draft slots that Sacramento might make some weird move like drafting Zach LaVine simply because they can. And then the next scary thing is that this little kid could use his 1% chance to become great next to Boogie and Rudy Gay.

There was no way Bennett should have gone before Oladipo or Alex Len IMO. You never know what these teams see. Especially when most teams draft trying to project a prospect into the future.

I like LaVine
