What's new

why so many of you giving up on Burke? He is our future PG, period!

Burke is not going to get taller, nor will he get any faster. Bigs take longer to develop their games, especially those who didn't play college and got parked on the bench their first couple of seasons. I'm not "giving up" on Trey; I'm just saying he's always going to be in the 15-20 range of PG's. Is that good enough? For now, ok. Once the team takes another step up? Then I think the Jazz will need to upgrade the 1.
Yep

Agreed. Looked to me like he was not quick enough to get into the lane, meaning he will never be much of a threat on offense. With his size, he will always have trouble on D. Looks like a middle of the road guy at best.

they are equivalent

burke got 2,262 Minutes in his 1st season

Kanter got 1,952 Minutes in his first 2 seasons combined.

It took CJ Miles 4 seasons to reach the 2,000 minute mark.
Ouch

But you can see what his physical attributes are. They are not gonna change. He will always be small and not quick enough to make up for that deficiency is the way it looks. Maybe I missed it but it looked to me like he could not get around guys and get into the lane. Not good.
Yep and he struggles to finish at the rim.

And we're gonna ignore the tape watching, time spent with an actual coach developing, and practicing with players at a higher level than college as something that doesn't matter at all?

Yes. A coach who blames you and throws you under the bus for injuries and HIS inept job. Tape watching and practice is all good, but you need PLAYING time.
I'm not saying Kanter is going to transform into an all-star next season. But he will improve. Maybe he IS a bust. In that case, Lindsey should draft Vonleh. However, from what I've seen, Kanter has some very good interior moves and is a good offensive rebounder. Burke? I've seen him shoot bricks and be ineffective trying to get inside. Oh yeah, but he DID have one game-winner so he gets a complete pass for his otherwise horrible shooting. Seriously, Burke will also get better. But he's ALWAYS going to have physical limitations. Deron wasn't the fastest guy, but he was big and could outmuscle other PG's. However in the this league when you're slow AND small, it just doesn't bode well for success.

Actually player improve more with practice than playing time. You don't develop post moves, shot, or improve your dribbling in the middle of a game. Those things are improved in the offseason usually with trainers.

These highlights show Burke getting to the rim, hitting clutch shots, and making plays.
