With the 35th Pick... Jarnell Stokes (traded)

I wonder if this means Tomic is coming over or that they are going to resign Marvin. Then this makes sense.

So a lineup of this(?):

Favors/Tomic/Gobert
Kanter/Evans
Hawyard/Williams/Hood
Exum/Burks/Hood
Burke/Exum/Neto

13 players. I'd try to find a PF.

Williams provides that as a stretch-4 (or he can play the 3 as needed). I think Neto is sent back to Spain and the Jazz keep JLIII as the veteran "mentor." Not sure why, but DL really loves Lucas.

FYI that is only 12 players since 14 names are stated and Hood and Exum are both listed twice. There is even one more roster spot available.

Well, they announced it on the draft that no cash was involved, so I guess that's that.

Still don't get it. It was already said earlier, but it's as if I ask you to give me $20 today and you give me $10 back to cover it.

More like: You exchange $20 into €10 even though the exchange rate sucks. But you expect your $20 note to lose value if you stick to it. So you do it to minimize damage.

This could be the problem with adding someone, for whom you have little to no playing time.

Personally I still would have exchanged $20 into €15 and stashed Jokic.

I would have used it on any Euro. Or draft Tavares and have him play in Idaho all season. The ONLY way this makes any sense is if it was a "gentleman's" trade. Jazz wanted Hood and told Memphis they'd cut a deal to move up. With only 5 mins in between picks, Memphis said "no problem," but let's just save the paperwork on the 22 for 23 swap. Just write up the #35 for a 2016 2nd-rounder since that needs to be recorded by the league.

Sounds good.

In the end, maybe we would've gotten a Millsap, but the odds are probably more likely we got a Murphy. Exum/Hood more than make up for it.

The Jazz traded away their second round pick for a future second round pick after getting two very good picks in the first round?

I think Early was the pick, but was snagged one before us.

I really wanted Tavares, Grant or Robinson, but I trust Dennis. Here's to Boston/Toronto being awful! Also, with all the future 1st and 2nd's, we are in place to move up in future drafts.

You have one hell of an imagination.

So this was for the better of a Boston or Toronto 2nd round pick? Is that correct, or am I misinformed?

DL knows so many things that we all have never even thought about. I am sure if we knew the background story we would see that it is not stupid, but brilliant.

There is a lot more evidence to support this than the opposite POV.

I think no one knows.

Oh, OK. I thought I saw a tweet on the Jazzfanz tweet thing that said as much, but since I didn't see anyone post anything about it I figured it was speculation or something.

I believe next year's draft is expected to have some depth again. A 2nd rounder next might make more sense.

A lot of talented bigs who are unpolished but have good ceilings. Very little shooting and point guards. Hustle forwards who are premium versions of Grant that you can actually play are available en masse.

Helps when I'm alone. :)

After reading the timing of the trade, I no longer think that way. Lindsey was just asleep at the wheel. He had to take someone, then called around to find a buyer. It was a big misstep by Lindsey.

I dont think most (keyword) are calling DL an idiot we are just wondering what the actual trade was and why we did not use it for someone like Tavares. Seems like they just threw this away for nothing but we obviously do not know what the actual trade is or why they did it for sure.

But glad you never question anyones decision and agree with everything. Since "bright minds in the business" always make good decisions and never mess up.
